Error Code 3200
« on: December 12, 2018, 10:17:05 pm »

I've got a few questions regarding a 3200 error code on my S-Plus IGT Red White and Blue slot machine. This machine was taken out of a bar to be replaced with new machines and sat in storage for awhile. Plugged it in and had a 12 error code, replace the 3.6v battery and powered up the machine and nothing would work. This does not have a hopper and has a bill validator. After doing some research I was reading that the eprom or ram needed to be reset (maybe my first mistake / first flag). Bought the reset chips and did the reset and still no operations. When I purchased the reset chip it came with a Bill Validator (BV) reset chip. I did that reset and during the procedure it asked to set the denomination. My machine is 25 cents so I set it to be for 25 cents. Put my game chip back in and finish with the procedure. The machine and the bill validator cycled then the bill validator light finally came on. I inserted a 20 dollar bill, it took it but it read 20 credits not 80 like it should have (maybe the second flag). The moment the validator stop, it registered the 20 credits and then all of the buttons lights (bet 1, spin real etc.) went out and then I got the 3200 error code. I did the BV reset again thinking I did something wrong but got the same results/nothing. I used to be a slot tech many years ago but mainly worked on IGT video poker machines and I know that the S-Plus machines are fairly similar. Just hoping some one can help me to diagnosis this. What's odd to me is that the error code 3200 is Extra Coin Out but I don't have a hopper. Any assistance would be greatly appropriated. Also, I don't have the repair manual(s) can someone send me the PDF or can it be located on this web site.
Thank you.

See attached to make bills go to credit.
Pull out your cashout button's switch, leave the wires attached to it and let it dangle inside the machine.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Thank you for replying. I'm trying to open the attachment from my cell phone and it won't open, what type of a file is it and does that attachment explains how to charge the denomination from dollars to 25 cents? Thanks

It is a simple .txt file.

WHEN INSERTING BILLS THE HOPPER PAYS OUT
INSTEAD OF SHOWING ON THE CREDIT METER

DO THIS:
The board has been cleared with a clear chip and the denomination
has been set.
The bill validator accepts bills but pays them out of the hopper.

Here is the fix.

Turn the machine off.
Set DIP switch 4 to it's opposite position.
Turn the machine on.
Use the test button to go to test 3.
This should show the credit mode of 5xx2.
Turn the key switch till you see 8xx(?)
and make it 8xx1.
Get out of test mode and close door.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Thank you Badbaud for the assistance. Not sure what or where (DIP switch 4 is, what it looks like and reposition it to its opposite position means) is that meaning turning it 180? Also, test button to test 3, does that mean toggle the white test button 3 times?  How do I get out of the test mode (I'm assuming to toggle the white test switch so many times?
Thanks again.

I've got a few questions regarding a 3200 error code on my S-Plus IGT Red White and Blue slot machine.

[3100] is extra coin paid out.
[3200] is a coin jam.
[3300] is an empty hopper code.

The 8 switch module is located left of the volume control along the edge of the board.
Yes, white test button.
Closing the door usually gets you out of test mode, if not just keep tapping the white test button until the display blanks out then close the door.

Top left corner, it's the white rectangle.

That board is missing a chip at U18 (center top)

I found the Dip switch and changed it and when I toggle 3 times I get  10  1. And I just read the last post of me missing a chip in U18, what chip # should be in there?
Thank you

Location U18 on that particular revision MPU is a 28-pin SCN2681 DUART chip.
I'm sure someone can send you one or get in touch with someone that can make you a copy of it.

Great, that's really cool. So since I'm missing that chip, what does it control and can I get that in Vegas? Also, Badbaud instructed me to change the Dip switch but what's a bit confusing. The board has #'s that goes from 0-7 and the actual switch goes from 1-8 so I'm not sure if #4 is 4 on the switch or #5 on the board.

#4 on the switch.

Press test button until you get a 2-1 (if it's 2-0 {no sound} change it to 1 with spin button) then turn jackpot key until you get to 5_X, turn jackpot key again until you get to 8_x, change those with spin button also.

Is there something blocking the hopper optics?  3200 is coin out time out.  Could be from the U18 missing? I don't know what it does.

My machine does not have a hopper. This was used in a bar and I believe the payout was was behind the bar. Cash goes in and payouts were paid by the bar attendant.

Half of all the boards I see or repair don't have that chip in them, it is not needed for home use or bar use!
as for your problem!  you will need two chips to fix your problem,  the first chip you will need is a clear chip, the second chip is a set chip.
your SP chip is a 1271, so the dip switches have no affect on this board, according to the PSR.

since you are in a tilt mode nothing can be done until the tilt is cleared, since you don't have a hopper, the only way to clear the tilt is  to clear the machine.  after clearing the machine, then you have to use the set chip to enable the dollar unit and set the denomination, two step process.
the next step would be to select all the settings.

I would imagine the machine hopper limits were set to zero to initiate an attendant hand pay, then after payment, turn the jackpot reset key and cancel the credits and continue playing the machine.

the settings would be:  5_0 or 1, bill selection 8_0 or 1,  hopper limits #7  there is a set of flip cards in the front section of the S+ FAQ's,  read these, it will explain all the settings etc.

I also have hoppers for sale if you need one.

hope this helps

Jim
