One thing I have been curious about for some time. Does anyone know how much the S2000 slots sold for new ? Maybe a basic machine verses a barcrest like Top Dollar ?

About $12000-$14,000 for a basic S2000.. Barcrests were in the 30k+ range.

I bought a nearly new condition s2000,  with  mahogany sides and matching stand in perfect condition.  It had come from a man who was a lawyer for the Bellagio in Las Vegas. They just gave it to him. It had a lot more locks on it then most "shopped" slots: main door lock, belly door lock, cash box housing lock, and 2 locks on the cash box itself.
He just wanted it gone since it didn't work. I got it home and found the power supply had not been put in all the way and had just come out.

I paid $100 for it.

Of course these machines pay for themselves over and over.
Now the next question in this is...
What does or did and average s2000 earn in dollars for a casino over its life on the floor???

of all the ones i ever checked, that had not been cleared by the casino, i have seen where they had over 800k played and 600k paid out, and some had as much played but alot more paid out. never seen one negative lol.

Easy question - hard answer !!
What came first the chicken or the egg ??
How much a slot makes depends on how long the slot has been in service. How long it remains in service is related to how much play the slot gets.
How much a slot gets played is determined by foot traffic and if you have current themes your casino will likely get more foot traffic.
Other draws like a show, buffet help pull in traffic but a hot theme will draw in play from that foot traffic.

Here is some of the math....
The average slot is set between 92.8% and 98%. Giving a house margin of 2% to 7.2%.
Typically a higher denomination has a thinner margin.  Ie $5.00/pull at 2% is 10c of earnings and a $1.30 pull from a penny machine at 7.2% is 10c of earning as well.

According to a IGT gaming exec I met at G2E - their slots are designed to pull in $20 per 20min of play. This is not coin in but retained earnings.
It is common that a penny slot will take 300 coins (30 lines at 10 coins per line) but pay back $2.30. Otherwise known as a slow bleed.
This gives the player all the physiological stimuli of winning while still fleecing their pockets. Casino's love penny slots due to the high margins.

$20/20 min = $1/min or $1440/24 hr period. This of course would presume non stop play which is doubtful. I would theorize that any particular slot would be played about 15% of the time or about $216 /day.
Some are going to be higher and others lower but on average 15%. On 10,000 aq feet of gaming space (ie Casino Royal) you would have about 700 machines. 700 x $216 = $151k/day.

Some classics like Double Diamond Deluxe will live in a Casino for 10 years or longer until they simply break down as they are steady money makers.
Other slots create a huge flash in the pan but are gone in 6 months after the novelty wears off. IE HangOver themed slot.
One trick of the trade is to have 4 of the hot themes in the middle of the not so hot. That way players will congregate next to one of the hot themes waiting for it to become available while playing at one of the others - so game placement is also crucial.

Slots like the HangOver, Starwars, etc are often leased from the slot manufacturers in a revenue share model due to the high licensing fees associated with the theme.
AKA: George Lucas wants his piece of the pie for use of the image of C3P0 etc. These slots come and go in months or even weeks if they fail to be steady earners.
Once again a limited number of the high cost slots surrounded by lower cost machines is a good strategy of keeping more of the inbound revenue.

So at $216/day that's 78K/yr with typically a 3-5yr run (before technology changes) $236K - $394k.
If your wondering where the 3yr comes from......Standard depreciation on a business machine is 30%  (accounting 101) allows a business machine to be written off just about 3yrs.

Even with a $30K price tag for a brand new S2000 -  that is one hell of a return on investment.

HI there i worked at IGT for years no s2000 cost  those crazy price about 8000 s2000 barcrest cost 13k  because igt s-plus were 5000 new i was logined into there system when i entered used equipment and new equipment coming from reno i even new there trade in values
