hold button issue

i have a 3902 board with a m0000888 base chip, The hold 5 button is acting weirdly,  when i do a button test in diagnostics the button works with no delay or issue but during actual game play the button sometimes has a .5-1 sec delay or doesn't hold at all.  changed out the switch and re-seated all boards.  i am thinking maybe an i/o change but with the rest of the buttons not having an issue not sure if that would do anything.


anyone seen/dealt with this kind of issue before?

It seems odd that it would act differently between diagnostics and game play.  I'd swap the I/O card out and see if it makes a difference anyhow.

tried swapping the i/o's, didn't help the issue. 


remembering an old trick we used on bar tops, i re-seated all the cable connections inside the machine and so far it is working correctly.
