Time for some refresher. Havent been on in quite a while and have been sucked back in with acquisition of another dead machine.
triple Diamond 5 liner with 12 code has been brought back alive but nothing from BV do I generally  have to use set chip to enable BV after a Battery change  or is it likely something else.  Previous owner said it all worked 5 or six years ago before being put in storage...
After battery went through the typical 61 code and came up after cleaning up comparitor but no bv funtion other than it cycles .

BEFORE I MOVE ON WITH SET CHIP IS THERE A SYSTEM TEST TO TELL STATUS OF BILL VALIDATOR  USING TEST BUTTON

which sp chip is in machine?

try this: press white button 4 times then turn jackpot key 4 times

Depending on sp you may need to do this instead: press white button twice then turn jackpot key 7 times.

chip is a 1271 all set ran set chip and after hit reset button was 9 1 in window already  finished procedure and still didnt work so used a known good BV from another machine and got it to work in Fixer machine (although really dont like doing this) Then put back in other BV still nothing as well as no insert bill lights .  Took head apart to clean and found qtr jammed in there cleaned up and dusted off put back together and is now working
