Arm locked.

Help! I had the wheel unit out and when I put it back and played a game, the arm locked in the down position (the wheels have been spinning). I can't find what it's like to unlock the arm.

My Bally Mustang have worked as a Clock Before. But I have noticed that it have been Another resistans the first play after I got the Reel-unit out and put it in again, same yestarday but this time the armed is locked. I hope this pic is better!

I am going to try to help you without going down stairs to my game room AND working off of a 50+ year old memory.  If you are facing your reel mech, to the right there is a space at the bottom between the reel mech and the handle box.  In that space, near the plate that the reel bundle sits on you will see a small piece of metal rectangle in shape.  In most instances, that I know of, if you push down on this small metal plate your handle will be released to the upright position.  DO NOT pull the handle again. Take out the reel mech and try to determine what your problem is before jamming yourself up again.  If there is a hardware issue then repeated pulling of the handle may make things worse.

I maybe found what is wrong. A brace looks to be loose, see the arrow.

That could be the problem since the small metal plate is what I was trying to describe . The parts are probably floating around inside the cabinet.   They could cause major problems if they find their way into electronic components.

Your going to have to pull the reels shelf to get the handles Gearbox loose. There are 3 Phillips screws located on the top left side of the shelf to remove. Then two 1/4-20 nuts on the left side holding brackets to the right wall, one in front and one behind the handles gearbox. Then two more short Phillips screws under the shelf screwed into the gearbox it’s self. Once these are all off you can lift up on the left side of the shelf at about 2 inches then slide to the left to get the right side brackets off the mounting studs. Your shelf should now be loose so you can access the handles gearbox. It is held in place by four 5-16 nuts or 1/2” wrench or socket. Two on the top and two on the bottom. Oh yea I almost for got to have you remove the bolt holding the handle to the gearbox. It’s also a 1/2” wrench or socket. Be careful of you cabinets shelf wiring, and alway remember to unplug the machine.

Jan it is obvious that mechanic is the expert here.  He knows these  games inside and out.   Follow his directions and you cannot go wrong .  A friend of mine has been known to sell the handle box completely rebuilt if interested.   I am of the opinion that yours can be repaired by you with a little investment of time.  Please keep us posted.

Do you have a spot to edit on the pictures you view? It’s in there. You need to just take a picture and go in and play with the options. If you screw up you can usually undo or delete what you just edited. I’m still learning new things.

But do I really have to relese so many screws just for setting back that lever (se my Arrow on the last pic) to something? I mean the "arm" is now relesed and up and the reel-unit is out.

You can do it how you want, but this is what I have found the best way to get the handle Gearbox out. Now I said out. If you can repair it some other way, go for it. It came loose for some reason like a broken clip or a screw fell out.
