S2000 Dead battery and more...

so I just got an triple double diamond. this machine has been off/unplugged for about 6 months. i was told last time it was on it worked fine. when i plug it in it does a memory check and hen comes back to call attendant. i pulled the mpu? board and seen that there is a battery issue with the coin size battery. my meter shows no voltage at all on that battery. i also get a ram error code once in a while and a loud buzzing noise. so from the best i can tell i need to replace that battery and try again. I wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas or things to try. also wondering if someone with more knowledge then me has a service that I could send the board out and have them troubleshoot it and fix all that needs fixed and send it back... is that an option? any feedback would be great. I think this is a s2000 board just by my research. my odel number o the board is 1952-2 and the machine serial number is igt 1359375  model number is 9645800

Hi Josh..   

Sound like you need to change out the coin size battery. While doing this I would install a battery holder for the removable style coin battery’s. The battery is a 2032.. If you have a local battery store, they should be able to do the swap for yea. While your at it, be sure to remove the green Varta Battery on the front of the board. That battery is not needed for home use. Those green battery’s  are known to leak acid damaging the MPU board. If you can please posts a pic of your board for us. Once the battery’s changed you will need a reset key to set your machine back up. The alarm and codes are normal once powered back on. I think you turn it 4 times, then have to push the white button on the MPU, close the door and fiollow the display again. You should have to turn the reset key 3 more times. At this time you should be done. As long as your boards good.

I dont have a key? all of my keys are just open holes. what is a reset key and were do i get one?

also is it just as easy as unsoldering the battery and re soldering it back in?

If you know how to use a soldering iron and have one you can do it. The reset key goes in a key slot just above the pull handle. You can get one from any vender here or on line.

just an update. i went to our local rec room games llc in englewood ohio and had a new battery put in. the old green battery removed and got a reset key from them. now my machine is working great. minus the dollar bill mechanism but i  haven't dug into that yet. thanks for the info and pointing me in the right direction

You likely need to re-enable your bill acceptor. With the power ON, open your main door, and press the small white button on the MPU. This will bring you to a settings menu. Then follow this...
(If you can't get to the proper menu, don't press MAX CREDITS and it will stay unchanged. Just close the door and report back here, or try again. It you know menus and submenu functions, you'll figure this out)

Enable/Disable (Option: [3.3.1])
Select the bill acceptor Enable/Disable screen to configure whether or not the bill validator accepts bills. Use the following steps to enable or disable the bill acceptor:
1. Navigate through the list of settings using the CHANGE and CASH/CREDIT switches.
2. Press the PLAY MAX CREDITS switch to exit the screen and save the changes, or press the SPIN REELS switch to reset the value to the previous setting.

cost was 30 dollars for a battery plus solder job and a new reset key. i havent messed with the bill acceptor yet

i enabled the bill acceptor and it still isnt taking any bills.any other ideas?

Did the lights on the Bill bezel light up? Does it cycle when the machine is powered on, or the cash can is installed?

nothing at all happens. it has a red led below it but thats the only light near it. no cycle either

ive never heard mine cycle. before or after the fix from rec room. is there a way to test them. or anything of that nature?
