bill acceptor does not take 5's on Double Diamond

Hello, I have a Double Diamond slot machine and the bill acceptor does not take 5's?  It takes all other bills.  Is there a reason why?

Also I am new to slot machines.  What is the change button for? I put a new bulb in and it does not light up?

JCM stopped providing bill validator software updates for S+ machines before the new "purple" 5's were put into circulation.  So your bill validator software doesn't support it and that's the reason it doesn't accept them.  It will take the older 5 dollar bills though. 

The change button should light the upper light on the candle.  If you needed change or a drink you would push change (sometimes labeled service) button which would light the light on the candle and an attendant would come by to see what you need.

For whatever reason, the "Change" button lamp is not wired to anything on an S+ upright, so even if you put a bulb in the button it won't do anything.

I was wondering why the light would not come on the change button.  I put new bulbs in all buttons and that was the only button that did not come on.  It does not make any since, but at least that will save me some time from trying to figure out why it will not come on.
