I've got a new in box only out long enough to remove the varta battery and U16 transistor for $150 plus shipping if you want to go new. Let me know

As long as you won't tell anyone, here goes -- I got tired waiting for the 2354 battery o come in the mail so i wired two AA batteries in to replace it. No problem, right? EXCEPT I REVERSED THE POLARITY! After resetting it a half dozens times it forgave me and all the goofy messages disappeared and it started working. I thought I fried every component in it.

I don't think you're alone in what you did.  :rotfl:

I was working on an old S plus slant top power supply for the bill validator. I went to push the Molex plug back in to the other side. There was a little resistance but I just pressed it together thinking it's old and just needed a little harder push.
I flipped the power on, but walked across the street to talk to my neighbors when he asked me for something.
Five minutes later, I return to my garage to THAT smell: burning electronic something!  :hissyfit:

I had put the plug off by a quarter turn! The "resistance" was the NOTCH that I should have lined up.
