I am so sorry for posting the last stupid question, I assume I should not have even posted it but the answer I got did provide me with a reality check, Thank You!


Being this Triple Diamond machine is for amusement only, I did fill the machine with 500 quarters and am going to keep the tray full of quarters,  what can I do to make it the most fun for my guest? is there a preferred "loose" chip? I did read about a "nudge" chip and also some said add progressive with a million dollar prize, sounds cool.


Is the blue light on the candle supposed to flash when you win?


What size bulbs are the tiny bulbs for the bill validator?

Honestly, there's almost no perceptible difference in gameplay in the "loose" chips vs the chips that typically get sold with these machines (typically in the low 90's).  I wouldn't bother with it, but if you want to switch it, it is easy enough once you have the chip. 

Nothing flashes when you get the smaller wins, only when you hit a jackpot that is above $1,200 and it requires a handpay.  The two lights on the candle are for when there's an alert that the machine has an issue or that you pressed the service button on the machine to alert an attendant.  Other than that, the light is always off.

Adding a progressive to your machine in the "millions" can only be accomplished by adding a mikohn progressive display and controller.  If you don't get it pre-programmed and all the harnesses and power cables made up, it is not all that "plug and play" to do it from scratch.  It requires programming with a really old DOS based program through a serial interface and some understanding of the many options.  There's probably a post somewhere of what you need to do in the progressive area.  You will also need a special progressive glass to attach the progressive display meter on it.  I believe some have circumnavigated that requirement by modifying the player tracking bracket to accommodate the progressive display, but again, not a plug and play solution.

The nudge feature requires a different set of strips, and to be "accurate" a different set of glass. It is called Triple Diamond Deluxe, you usually buy the kit as the two pieces of glass, the strips, and the game and reel chip.

I have 4 machines, that I run off of tokens.
Too many of my kids friends around to leave quarters lying about.
I also don't want anyone losing their lunch money by playing with real $$ not to mention the legality of it.


With that said - when I leave a bucket full of tokens - my guests drop in 3 or 4 and then thats the end of it.


SO... I invested in a coin rolling machine and bought a ton of quarter sized coin wrappers embossed with my casino name on them from netbankstore.com


When people come over I give them a coin bucket, a roll of quarters, they lose them, then come back and shake the cup looking for another roll.
Its an interesting experiment into the human mind. No sense of loss = no sense of gain.


The inevitable question that always comes up is what do I get if I win.
I got the giant cheque and Mc'givered it with some whiteboard paint so I can write their name and amounts on it with a dry-erase marker.


I found the poster board (either corrugated or foam mount) at Michael's. I then used a plotter at work to print the cheque.
I printed to the size of the poster board vs the otherway around.


My first attempt to glue it to the poster board was a bust. Bubbles etc. They looked worse on the picture than they did in real life - the glue patches showed through.
In the end I used glue stick - there is so much surface area its not going anyplace. I didn't but You could also get poster hangers - these are those black plastic clip ons that you put on a movie poster etc.


I have an older (12" diagonal) electronic picture frames that I cycle through the pictures. One of my rainy day projects will be converting one of my spare toppers to hold the frame.
I am not sure if I am going to put it on a machine or just hang it on the wall. What I like is the marquee lights going around.


Before I got the cheque - I bought a box of Irish Spring Soap (BTW I'm Irish) and put a I WON at Monaghan's Irish Pub and Casino sticker on it (similar to my forum avatar) and gave that out for all wins over 400 coins. To be honest I can't stand the smell of that stuff so just having the box of soap behind the bar made me ill.

Since I have several machines - I have 1 x 16", 2 x 9" and a PE+ poker.
I picked up top glass both in 9" and 16" for the majority of my games but only 1 set of reel strips.
There are also clone games. Wild Cherry, Black Cherry are duplicates of each other.


I then bought tournament chips. So I could run a side by side tournament of Wild Cherry.
The tournament is either based on a set number of credits or time on the machine.
There is no actual linking of the machines necessary (or no need to even have more than one machine).


With 8 people and 2 machines we play two rounds each, combining the score from both rounds.
The top two then play off.


Normally we order Pizza and the winner doesn't have to chip in.

Jay, I like your ideas, of course I only have the one machine, I do have the Dyna Cherry Bonus but that is a different animal and it is for sale.


On the Cherry machine friends would put money in it just as donations to help pay for pizza & beer, I was thinking about similar deal for this machine but machine is always free to play.

Wild Cherry and Black Cherry are not clones.  Black Cherry is type 5 with nudge feature, Wild Cherry is type 0.  Payscale is the same. (like triple diamond and triple diamond deluxe)

You are correct - however with the same Tournament chips in both - the paytable is all that matters.
There is also Cartoon Wild Cherry.
