 :I_agree_1:  With Cowboy! We often forget that SP chips are designed for EITHER a 10mhz board OR a 16MHz board! I know from experience that a mismatched combo will cause some wacky stuff!!!

Me too. Strange things happen with these machines. I had one today that the display's stayed dead. Checked all the normal plugs, even took the display off to another machine to find out it was good. Changed the main board and all was fine. The crazy thing was 1 digit would flash as I powered machine down. I read about your problem, if your going hopper less you need to press white test button until you see the first 7 in coins played it will show as 7-1 turning the J/P key advances thru the digits, make all zero's and then all cash-outs go to hand-pay with an easy turn of the key.
