IGT S Plus slot shows no errors, bill validator adds credits no Play action

I need help with my IGT Double Diamond single line S Plus slot.  The machine shows no error, bill validator adds credits  but when pushing the play buttons nothing happens.  Coin input sends coin into hopper but does not add credit.  Neither does the little white button on the comparitor add a credit.  Machine seems to power up properly but does not play.  Door optics show proper operation during test.  Where can I go from here?  Could this be the coin comparitor?  Any help greatly appreciated.

If credits are displayed in the credits window, you should be able to play them with either the play button or max bet button.

When you close the door, does the number in the "Coins Played" window change?

Can you show us a good photo of the coin mech?

Someone please help.  I have this IGT Double  Diamonds 25 cent slot machine that shows no error codes, accepts bills and adds credits but does not play.  When a coin is inserted into the machine it goes into the hopper but the coin does not register.  One cannot add credits with the little white button on the coin comparitor.  The 24 volts is to the coin mech.  I have tried the optics test and 10-1 nor 11-1 changes.  However 12-1 will change to 12-0 when the popcicle stick is inserted.  I cannot see or find any broken wires or bad connections.  I was thinking that maybe I have a bad coin in optics board but looks like it would play when credits are added via the bill validator.  It seems to work properly adding credits and the payout button works paying out quarters when the credits are added.  I am posting pictures of the machine the first one being the machine turned on with no credits, the second one of the coin mechanism and the third one after a single dollar bill is inserted into the validator.  Any help would be appreciated.

I see you have a token in it. I guess you are using tokens. Pull the comparator out and see if someone has wired the gate back to let any coin through.

The gate is not wired open.  I have used tokens for the past couple of years.  I have even tried changing comparitor to quarters with the same results.  I think the comparitor is working.  Not sure about the optic electronic encoder.  Here is a picture of the machine after a dollar bill is inserted into the bill validator.  Notice that 4 credits are added and the spin and play 2 lights are lit.  Still no action.

Nothing happens when you press bet one or play 2 credits? Did you check the button switches?  Did you clean the coin in optics? Machine otherwise looks ready to play.

That is what is so confusing to me.  The spin button checks with an ohm meter as does the play 2 credits buttons.  However there is no play action when either of these buttons are pushed.  The connectors to the buttons are in place and look to be properly connected.  If one pushes the pay out button the hopper will return the number of credits to the tray.  The only error I can find, if this is an error is that the optics test does not change the 10-1 to 0 nor does the 11-1 to 0.  The 12-1 does change to 12-0.  I do not know if this is a problem.  Also the little white button on the coin comparitor does not add any credits when it is pushed.

Also, I have cleaned the optics, twice, so that should not be the problem. I have run out of things to try.  Hope someone can help me get this machine back to operation.  I do not have another IGT S + to try  swapping parts.

The "Insert Coin" is lit up. 
That means your dollar is not going to credits.

For some reason, the dollar you've put in the DBV is paying it out rather than going to credits even though the credits display shows 4 credits.
I'm suspecting that setting needs to be changed so bills inserted go to credits.
Check the settings for game lock up too.
The other thing is the game might be on "Display" mode...which explains hy the buttons are lit up but nothing works.
However, I'm surprised the machine is acting like a changemaker? Lol

to repair your optics: one of two options, replace the optics, or remove Q-2 from the optic board, that should fix that problem.   I have tested optics available,  35.00  plus shipping.

as for the no operation buttons,  did you try and pull the handle to activate the game?  it is in parallel with the spin button.  also  go to this link, read the cards and how to use them, it will check every switch,bulb, hopper and everything on the machine. its tell you the settings, what they mean etc.

For whatever it's worth, I know people have had issues with buttons being wired incorrectly causing weird results.  If you have another machine to compare wiring to, that would be good to do.  Otherwise if you can post some detailed pictures of the wiring going to each button's switch, we might be able to spot something.

Of note, the wiring for the lights and for the cherry switches are separate, which could explain why the lights work correctly but you have buttons that do not register correctly.

Thanks for the tips to help with the problem.  The machine is wired properly as once or twice it worked for a couple of times.  The buttons and the handle have both been tried.  The hand pull is not free to move when a bill is inserted in the machine and credits are added.  The handle still will not pull like no credits are on the machine even though the credit  window shows credits.  I am away from the machine now so I cannot remove Q2 from the coin encoder.  I just have to hope removing Q2 helps.

Have you tried unplugging the connector at the MB. May just be corrosion.

For what it's worth, the pull handle will remain locked even after a bill has been inserted.  It unlocks only after the "Bet 1 Credit" button has been pressed at least once, or if a coin is inserted.  Adding credits via a dollar bill will not cause it to unlock, as no credits have been committed to being wagered yet.
