Bill Validator Problem S+ Hot Peppers Machine

One more problem to fix with this machine and I will be good to go. I don't know much about the DBV on my machine but it is not accepting any paper money. Just spits it back out over and over again. Every once in a great while it will take a 1 dollar bill but it's rare for that to happen. Maybe it dirty inside? Is there anyway to check for problems with the DBV? Attached are a couple of photos of it. Would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

Have you opened the top of the head and cleaned all the lenses with water and a soft cloth?

there is a stand alone self test for that unit, it will determine if the unit is accepting bills and what type, kinda of gives you an idea of what software is in the machine,   after that is determined, then it could be a matter of the wrong IDO selected on your 200 head, switch 10.

the flip cards for DBV 200 will tell you how to do it.  remove the one screw on the bottom of the head that holds it to the transport , flip the switches to the instructions, test the unit.

When it's taking in a bill and then rejecting it, does it hold it for a second or two before rejecting it?  Does the "Insert Coin" lamp on the reel glass blink a couple of times during that time period?

If so, it's set for the wrong ID as Jim said above.  With the power off, unplug and remove the bill head assembly and you'll expose a bank of DIP switches on the underside.  Flip DIP switch 10 to the opposite of its current setting.

You can see a visual of the DIP switches in the attached manual -- page 11 of the .pdf, which is listed as page 7 in the lower right corner of the printed page.


If that's not the case, understand that the validator won't recognize the newest currency.  You'll need to use older style bills in order for the DBV to recognize it.  Most all of the newer "colorful" money won't work with the validator (save for the newer $20s, if your DBV software has been updated).  Make sure you're using older, non-colorized bills or it will reject them every time.  See the attached image for a general idea of what will and won't work.

yes it does hold it in for a second. I was using a newer $10 bill kinda worn out. It never took it in even after 30 times or so of trying. I'll get around to switching that DIP 10 on it soon. Will report back. Thanks for the info.
