Bally Money Honey 742A

I am trying to hook up the meters on the money honey and i can't seem to figure out where the two wires go on the back of the meters.also the machine lights up but no reel action ..i replaced all of the fuses and the holders and reset the buttoned there is a click when i push the button..any ideas would be great

After research this is a 1960's electromechanical  (EM) slot.

If you are talking about the coin in and out meters. Wouldn’t be to concerned at this moment.
Even if they’re hooked up there may be internal damage.
In general, will the machine take a coin and release the handle?

It will take the coin but the handle will not release, and there is no lights on the front ..when I close the door there is a clicking sound

Might be a push in switch bottom right of the cabinet. When the switch pushes in the coin lock out coil makes a click sound. The coin drop switch activates the coin relay switch bottom left side of the reel mechanism.
This is a latch switch. Clean these contacts then test the machine. If it still doesn’t work then they might need to be adjusted.

what's the full 742A number on the plate below the handle ... or does it just say 742A ... and do you have the matching schematic?

they made a few hundred variations on the 742A, so metering depends on the specific model. 

in general tho, one terminal on both the meters should connect to orange wire 70 - doesn't matter which terminal -  and the other terminal on the "total out" (coins ejected) meter connects to brown/white wire 65-1.

if the game has a "cash box meter", the wire for that is brown/white wire 65-2.  Nice of them to use the same color wire, eh?  The easiest way to tell them apart if they are disconnected from the meters is to see which plug pins they go to using an ohmeter and the plug charts on the schematic.

Before you spin wheels, basically one side is orange and the other eventually makes it back to the common yellow.
Try jumping a yellow to to the non orange side as in completing a circuit. Do this momentarily to check if the meter works.
No reason to spend time tracing out wires if the counter doesn’t function.
It might try to advance, but just won’t turn to the next number. If this is the case the internal mechanism has a problem.

A while back I dissected a counter to find one of its moving parts broken at its weakest point.
Made a new replacement piece. There was also a shoulder rivet that had to be removed.
It was not reusable, so I fashioned a new one. Happy to say the operation was a success.

I have made progress,it’s excepting coins .the light will come on and when I put a coin in it will say coin excepted ..I can use the Leval to pull the handle but it will not do it when the handle is plulled without pulling the level by hand ....checked all pin connection on the reel carriage and the hopper,there straight and not bent and there clean...any ideas.could the micro switch for the door be the courpit

The coin switch in the door does control the handle release mechanism. This happens when the switch wire returns back up.
Did you clean the A,B and C switch’s on the side of the reel mechanism? Think I posted a photo diagram of these switches.
Check all switches for continuity. The horizontal B switches collects a lot of grim and sometimes get bent as to never make contact.


The actual handle release coil, related switches and wires may need some attention. Inspect, clean and manually operate the coil latch for proper functionality.

It could be your dashpot switch behind the air cylinder is opening. Try pushing back the handle after inserting coin sometimes that will allow it to make contact. Or tug on the pump arm.  Close that dashpot switch after cleaning.
