S+ Barcrest Cant activate BV

I have an S+ top dollar here running an SP 978, I am using a Set 53 chip and can not get bv to come alive, with set chip in I activate it  9-1 and set denom .25, country code is set f or USA, doing what i have mentioned it takes and keeps settings but bv is still dead when i put it back together. 


Any insight on this is greatly appreciated

Try using a SET 15.

SET 53 is the correct SET chip for it.  You certainly won't hurt anything by trying a different SET chip, though.

Before you do that, though, can you see if the setting of 9-1 has stuck after you've removed the SET chip?  (ie. with the normal game chips installed, cycle through the settings to see if 9 is still set to 1 -- you should be able to view that setting with the normal game chips installed, you just can't modify it.)  If it's still showing 9-1 with your normal game chips installed, the issue with your validator isn't with the SET chip or its setting, but rather any other issue with the validator, such as the cash can not being inserted properly, or the power supply for the validator not working, etc.

Regardless of whether or not the validator is enabled in the settings, you should hear it do its power-up routine when the machine is turned on.  If it's completely dead as you said in your original post, you have a different issue going on.

originally tried a 15 it wouldnt work , so i had to get the 53 for that chip set still no go

Can you please answer the question I asked in my previous post about whether or not you see 9-1 after you re-install your normal game chips, and also let us know if you are hearing any noise on boot-up from your bill validator.

shows 9-1 after its all back together, so its turning it on as far as the software goes, im gonna fart around with this later and make sure the bv has power and its functional cause it shows no signs of life at all

This has a wba 10/11 bv,  I’m starting to lean towards the power sup

changed power sup and put in a known good wba12, still dead, all though now making headway cause itll give a 3100 if the cans not in, im going to try to set this again with both set chips and see what happens, country code is set to 37 (USA), still dead no change.... im at a loss now

Here’s where we’re at
Ran a 15, thought I had one but it was a 90
Found a bad pin on the power sup harness
Bv now cycles on power up and 9-1 is sticking in the menu after game chip is installed how ever it still never is active to accept $$$ .... dips are set to accept $1-100 bills
In the 7 menus for limits I only has 2 that I could see unless I’m missing one
Max hopper and max credit both were at 1000 then I bumped hopper up above max credit
Still no change, it’s now alive but obviously something wrong in the settings at this point, the plus menus aren’t the most straight forward of setups that’s for sure
Any advice I would greatly appreciate

Was the old WBA 10/11 working on this machine previously?  Since you found and repaired a bad pin on the power supply for the bill validator, I would suggest trying to go back to the validator that had been in there and working prior to the power supply issue to see if that makes a difference, and eliminate some of the variables.

A 3100 error indicates that an extra coin has been paid out of the hopper.  Your bill validator nor cash can should have any impact on getting that error message.

i did try both neither accept, its never worked since i owned it, now i can see the orig power sup was bad

Okay, well that's some good progress at least.  You know it's enabled in the software, and you found at least one issue with the power supply.  Does its power-up sound normal, or does it sound like it's trying to engage the cash can multiple times before it gives up?  If you're not sure, I'd encourage you to take a brief video of the power-on process of your machine so we can see and hear what it's doing (or not doing), and post that to YouTube and post a link here.

Also, does the validator cycle when you remove and then re-insert the cash can?  Does it sound like it's engaging properly at that point?

cycles normal on power up and also when the can is taken out and replaced, bv is known good from another igt, its running latest v3.80 sw , also tried the orig 10 both do the same thing just never come alive to accept, im thinking its with the credit limits somewhere in the setup menus, maybe not, i duno im stuck on this one. Cust is coming to pick this up tomorrow i would love to get it squared away somehow tonight

There is no 3.80 software for S Plus. Maybe that's your problem.

I took the 12 out and put the 11 back in and that works with older bills, DONE as far as I am concerned thats all he wants, prob was a software conflict, why it wasnt working earlier I have no clue but it works now thats all that matters
