Author Topic: Settings for IGT S Haywire machine (Read 6027 times)

I recently purchased an IGT Haywire machine and generally it's working well, but I have no manual or instructions. Based on other IGT S machine photos in this forum, the machine looks to be an S model, but I have not found any info on settings or chips or how to determine the chips or any of the like info that seems very available for S+ and S2000 machines... Any suggestions?

I don't think an S (non-plus) is capable of the Haywire feature, but I'd love to be proved wrong. Can you post a couple of pictures of the inside and out of your machine so we can give it our expert opinion on what kind of machine you have, and help you from there?

Well by gosh, that sure does look like an S (non-plus) machine. I learned something today.

I'm not an expert at the S machines at all. Is there a specific setting you're trying to change?

The chips may have labels on them which would help to identify what specific program you're running. S machines use "RS" chip numbers, but the RS and SS chips are typically numbered the same. In other words, if you have RS1234 as your chip number, the PAR sheet for SS1234 would apply. With the power off, you can remove the MPU tray at the back of the machine by removing the coin tray, the hopper (pull the handle towards you), unplugging the harnesses on the top of the MPU enclosure, and lifting the metal enclosure out of the machine.

I have seen Haywire machines run the wheels in different directions - that would be nice but may not be available on the S (non-plus) machines. I'm also interested in what sound options are available. Really, I'm interested in what options are available and what can be changed... I'll work at getting the chip numbers (I take it that on the non-plus machines only physical inspection works - yes?)...

Reels spin in both directions only on a s2000 haywire machine, not s or s+. No real sound options either on s or s+.

I don't know that there are any settings to change on your machine but it's very different looking from the usual S machines I've seen. I'll post a picture of the insides of the ones I've seen.

Tom - sent you email with my own pdf manual. I didn't realize the first part was entirely for the S machine with the supplement afterward for the S plus.
This is also accessible here on NLG, along with many other manuals, schematics, and all sorts of great information if you become a contributing member.
Most people get one slot machine, and then the addiction starts!

This is my second machine that is replacing my first older IGT that recently died. There is also the fact that I grew up in a house with an old mechanical nickle slot machine... So, I have a feel for the bug... Thank you for the email.

Thank you again for the S model manual (Liberty Books - Marshall Fey). Interestingly, my machine's software does not seem to work the way it is listed in the book. IF I turn the key (according to the book to get to statistics mode) I simply get 0105 in the "winner paid" display and 1600 in the "Credits" display - the coins played is blank. The test button also seems to not work as noted in the book, it's complicated to try to describe as it is so different - any suggestions?

What part of the world are you located? , no "S" model machine from IGT was able to do any nudge or other types of games. It only used on chip, it was limited to all the earlier games (super bar) up to double diamond, red white and blue, wild cherry etc. The S+ added a second chip (SP) now this platform could handle all the types of games, nudge, spin til you win, haywire, mystery nudge etc.
The machine you have pictured probably was manufactured for over seas (Australia) maybe. but it is not a typical "S" model, I have seen some "S"models with a daughter board attached. I do not have any information on your particular machine. See Shaggy's picture, that is a typical view of an "S" model machine.

Well Tom short of finding a Unicorn..........You may have a first generation S+ machine. I've never seen one like that before. It's obviously a Haywire and I believe that would make it an S+ and not just an S. I'm guessing that daughter board has some sort of SP and SS chips on it. Anyway that kind of looks like what is at the top of it. I don't think you can change anything on it but if it's working good, enjoy it. I think I'll copy some of your pics in case we run into this in the future.

they added the second chip via the daughter board. there is a white push button located under neath the on/off switch, push it and observe the displays, that should get you into the test diagnostic menus, typically when you go through them it will end and you would have to close the door and press the play max button to exit the menus. usually the coins played window will indicate what test you are in, e.g. 3 in the coins played window would indicate you are in the hopper test menu, the spin button would be lit, pressing it would turn the hopper on and count out ten coins, and display that on the winners paid window. each press of the button should change something.

Tom if that is an S+ then I'm going to leave a link to find out what your SS and SP chips are. It will tell you the game chip and the reel chip (payout percentage) for your game. Remember where Jim told you the test button location.

I'm making some progress. When I press the test button all I get is 0105 and 1600 and the "bet 1" button flashes. Pressing it cycles through option numbers in the credits display. It cycles through 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 then cycles back to 00.

I have found that 04 followed by "play Max credit" allows the alignment of the reels. I have not figured out what the others are doing...
