S+ Double Diamond Winner Paid / Credits Coins played Flashing

I am working on a Double Diamond and the LED display continuously flashes back and forth between the Winner Paid / Credits Coins played. The top candle light is off and the bottom is flashing what looks like quickley. The Candle error chart indicates drop door open. I do not see a Drop door. Please advise.

First of all, there might just be a burned bulb on top.
Pressing the Service button once will tell you if that top bulb is working or not.

The bottom lamp flashing will go away after playing one spin.
Have you played a spin?

As I said the LED display continuously flashes back and forth between the Winner Paid / Credits and Coins played.


It does not play.

You are in an options menu, when you close the door and latch it, do the reels spin?  Are the reels "Stiff" when the door is open? Does turning the reset key make any difference with the numbers, or pushing the reset button?

Just had this same issue. Replace battery if needed, use 123 chip and clear. look for  65 hit test button wait for 65-1 , close door you will get a reset spin, if not you may have a reel tilt, or reel problem.

THe Machine boots as it should the reels spin and then I get this flashing back and forth. I just replaced the battery and performed the clear and set procedure. What you see on the screen happened after I inserted a dollar bill into the DBA,  the hopper paid out 4 coins because I did not have the cash / Credit button pushed.


I guess I will have to try another clear and set and see what happens.

Okay...I just watched your video.

It looks like your machine is just a dollar change machine right now.

You need to go into the settings and set it so it sends all inserted bills to credits instead of dropping coins to the tray...unless that's what you want?


What SP chip are you using?

Maybe I can post in a reply specific detailed instructions for your SP chip?

When I power up the machine the reels spin. When I open the door the LED's go blank and once the door is closed the reels do not spin again but after a brief time the display goes back to flashing back and forth.

Yes

Yes. I believe it is going into adjustment menu.

or pushing the reset button?

Yes I believe it is going into service mode when I press the button.

I was planning on doing that after I am able to make the machine properly work.

What SP chip are you using?

I am using the SET chip for my Fourth of July. It is also a three reel 2 coin machine. I do not know what version it is. I have a checksum for it.

We need that question answered to help you get your machine up and running the way you want it.

In the socket [C35] for the GAME PROM, there is a 28-pin chip in there.
That socket holds the SP chip.
Think of it as the Operating System program such as Windows XP, Windows 10 or something like that - some are newer, some are older.

The other socket [C36] is for the REEL PROM and holds the SS chip.
Think of that as an app, such as Facebook, YouTube, or something like that.
For the S+, it has the programming for the reel strip payouts.

You can find out what is in those sockets by opening the door, pressing the white test button nearby the power switch.
( or on the front of MPU box, depending on the year your cabinet was manufactured).
You need to press the test button 9 times until you see a number 4 in the "Coins Played" window.
The "Winner Paid" and "Credits" windows will alternate with the numbers of the SS and SP chips installed in your sockets.

What you call the "Adjustment menu" is really the internal Accounting system of the machine.
You can't really make adjustments by just turning the momentary reset key.
Turning the reset key just shows you what is in the accounting.


I watched your video again... It appears like the game hasn't played a spin yet because bills get changed as credits-to-tray.
That's why the numbers are alternating.
But that may also signify an error and as you've stated it could be a "drop door" error according to the candle sheet.
Depending on your SP chip number, it could just be a setting that needs to be changed?

Are there any taped-together wires down behind the bill acceptor that could run down to the hole on the bottom of the machine that are hidden - like as a pair of wires for a drop door sensor?
I'd be checking for loose ends.
