Bally 5000+ keno problems

I recently bought a non functioning Bally's 5000+ Keno machine. I replaced the power supply and the mainboard battery. When I powered it on everything looked fine. I hit the 'play credit' button on the inside of the door, selected 3 numbers on the screen using the wand, and hit 'Play'. I HIT all 3 numbers and the machine started paying out. I cycled 9999 coins through it until the payout meter read "jackpot". I quit cycling the coins and turned it off because 1) obviously something is wrong, and 2) jackpot is 40k coins.


 I Dont have the programming key pad.


 I'm wondering if anyone recognizes this symptom and has any suggestions. Like, how do I cancel the payout/turn? I have both manuals (service and operators) but they are quite cryptic.

Yes, unfortunately, the manuals were not written for us (home users), but rather casinos, who have a supply hotline to the manufacturer. The manufacturers (Bally, in this case) would much rather have the part replaced, for full value, than see anything "fixed" on a part, and the manuals reflect this.


If I had to guess, and don't pin me to this, but I would maybe start with your game limits, then look towards your chips (as they dictate the payout)? Just because the sticker on the glass says 40,000 doesnt mean the game limits were set the same. Not sure of course, but if it was hopper related, it would more than likely either NOT pay at all or just keep paying?

Thank you for your attention! Like I said, I dont have the programming key pad (an RX/TX? numeric key pad) for setting, and/or checking, any of the game's current settings.   
I also thought about the hopper being the source of the problem. but I logically concluded that that was probably not the case, seeing as how the on screen payout meter is updating with every coin drop. Not to mention there seem to be hopper error codes in place (judging from the manual) which would leave me expecting some sort of error message on the screen (much like how "main battery is dead" message came up prior to replacing the battery).


That leave 2 possibilities as far as I can tell: 1) the payout settings are wack and need 'tunning' and/or 2) the logic chip(s) needs replacing (which chip is that?).


But since I'm new to this machine, logic tells me that there are possible unknowns that could help (like a jumper for resetting a mid-payout turn, or however you say that?) because all it wan'ts to do now is keep paying. Seems to me there should be an easy way to 'break the loop' that it's stuck in without getting a keypad.
