MB and Bill Stacker error
« on: November 27, 2019, 08:41:20 am »
I was hoping someone could help, I have a S-2000 with the 504 board, I did the optic bypass and all worked then after a little bit the error came back, turned off the machine till the next day turned on with no errors then errors popped up, I did have a green battery that looked a little swollen but didn't see any damage on the traces but they are small, I was wondering if the problem is with the traces making and breaking contact.

My guess is I need to swap out the 504 board ?

Thanks

Dave

There's two screws inside the bill box that will allow you to remove the bill  stacker unit inside.
You'll see where the plastic optics meet the bill stacker....clean the dust off it the ends with a clean lint-free cloth.
The dust covering the the ends of the optics is what usually causes bill stacker errors .
They need to "see" clearly through there.

[MB] is the main/belly door optics not seeing as "closed".
All you need to do is open/close the door and those should go away.
If not, then make sure the door optics are perfectly lined up using a piece of masking tape and a magic marker.

Thank you, I'll take a look at the cash box, for the door optics I bypassed  them, thats why I was thinking it's the board causing the intermittent issue

Yes, but the belly door has nothing to do with the bypass if the belly door switch isn't working right or the wires aren't twisted together.
I'll be honest, I get confused too with IGT's nicknames and abbreviations such as [MB]...I don't even know if [MB] means main belly or not....it could be Motherboard,  Main Bill, Moby Dick, or something else...lol
Why couldn't they JUST add a few mother letters instead of using abbreviations? lol

But.... I DO know that the optics are all in a loop and switches need to be working correctly or tied up neatly and insulated from grounding out against metal or the logic signal going thru the wires gets scattered causing errors to pop up on the VFD.

I'd be checking all my connections and wiring going to the switches and optics that are still installed or removed.

Also, it doesn't hurt too much to spend a few bucks for a spare board that you may need anyways in the future.

M is the main door and also includes the belly door switch. B is the bill validator door switch which is often bypassed too.  Door Open MB means the machine thinks the main door is open AND the bill validator is open.  The MPU board is probably the cause.

Thank you, all switches have been twisted and checked along with the optic bypass, I will try the new board along with checking the optic in the cash box for the stacker error.
