IGT PE coin counter keeps running.

So this is my first post here although I'm a member of klov and other forums. Got myself a 1070D draw poker machine. And I've been cleaning and restoring it and rebuilding the monitor. When I started doing this I started getting a clicking sound and I noticed that left coin counter seems to be continually adding coins. I turned it off and turned it back on went through some of the settings but I can't seem to get them to stop clicking and adding coins the counter although this doesn't seem to add credits. This is my first problem my second problem is I now have the bug and I'm totally suckered into the draw poker and slot machine side of the hobby :-) and I don't know if there's any cure for the second problem

You can unplug the meters. Follow the wires to the backplane and unplug the harness. Problem solved.

Thank you very much that makes a whole lot of sense. Maybe I can see about putting him back in afterwards and see if this clears it if not maybe it's a PCB issue?

The game could be trying to catch up the physical meter if there was a big payout just before you got the machine.  You could try just leaving the machine on for an hour or so and see if it ever stops on its own.
