New Project.... model 1088

I was on the hunt for a parts machine for my eternal neverending E series almost working machine......Sigh.


Found this locally ..... all lights work, reels spin, hopper TBD.


Trouble is....its not an EM of course and so now I have yet another project.  Good grief, I hear this is how this "disease" starts!


This, according to the seller, was from a casino in OK....where it was originally from the LV Hilton.


The major issue, I think so far, is the door... you can see he had the plate laying on the machine...


SO I've ordered a new Key and cam (thanks foxslots) but I"m hoping that once I get that on...some of the issues will sort themselves out.


All the lights are now working, and I manually was able pull handle and reels spin and stop.


Coin activates and drops perfectly into the hopper.


My hope is that when I get the door closing right, the tilt light will go OFF and allow me to pull the handle...


I tried taping down the silver button on the top right hoping that would "fool" the door etc...but not entirely sure that is enough.


Just getting started here but would if anyone has some advice, I could sure use it. Apologies in advance for being so "green".


UPDATE:
Just found 2 wires not well connected...or at all....from the door button see last pic. SURELY this isnt right

the wires to the microswitch on top of the handle box control the "coin scavenger coil". 


whether that's the same as the "coin lockout coil" that is behind the coin mech isn't clear.  I have seen a schematic that has both those coils on it.


in any case, it's not critical to game operation.  It's likely the microswitch is bad so they unhooked it.  You can sometimes take apart or squirt solvents in the microswitch to clean the contacts inside and make it work.


I probably don't have a schematic for that exact version of a 1088, but I will put some paperwork for the base model 1088 at http://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/ in the next hour.


a lot of the circuitry is usually the same for all the variants of a model, so you can use the 1088 schem to see what turns on the tilt light and go from there.


I do have more schematics for 1088 versions, but it would help to know:
1] the full model number on the plate on below the handle (model number is the top one on the plate)
2] the numbers stamped into the slotted reel index discs.  The should be p-684-something
3] the number on the payout counter disc below the hopper.  Should be M-645-something

For some reason someone had removed the tag on the side,
But I was able to find the tag below identifying it as an 1113 
It’s strange because this doesn’t look like the other 1113’s I’ve seen online.



Let me pull those other pictures later this morning and I’ll add to this thread, on another note...I have found a dangling wire stemming off one of the panel lights on the left of the flourescent tube....I can't find its home...


The GOOD News is...once I cleaned the Beau Reel plugs and checked all around.... I actually got off a spin using a coin...and a PAYOUT and the counter is accurate on the win meter!



So I'm almost there.... but its back to no handle release again.....seems like a connection issue...I'll keep checking

the 1113 was a lowboy (shorter cabinet, payout glass in belly) version of the 1088 and some pieces may be interchangeable or require very few mods to switch between games.  Bally wasn't daft enough to change the circuits and plug wiring unless they needed to.


the 1088 and 1113 used the same reel wipers, contact plate wiring and payout counter.  Depending on the variant, the same reel tapes and slotted index discs are used.


since your game has the taller cabinet, it's a 1088.


the yellow wire hanging off the lamp socket is wire 30.  Assuming those lamps work, someone may have added that wire to have a convenient place to attach a voltmeter probe.  Can't tell from the pic what is on the end of the wire.

Thanks Wolf I think that 1088 sounds right.... I have some success!


I found one wire that was popped out of the molex plug on the right side rear...got that back in...


Pulled the reels again...found yet another wire had come off its connector on the left side of reel 1....got that back on....


and NOW all coins register..payout working and win meter registering......


Looking forward to  getting new door lock and mechanism installed then I think I'm home free!


Not bad for $100 outlay!  Thank you for your replies and info. I'll post a pic once I finish cleaning, have a secure door and its looking good!
