well if the software is for a 4 reel game and you only have 3, you would get that error.

The software for Double Jackpot Triple Electro 7s is for a standard 3 reel game though

Honestly, I don't know why you are going down the road of trying different configurations. If the goal is to get the game going as is, you should just stick with the original software you were trying.

Not trying to be difficult at all but just seeing if it would recognize a 3 reel set up without progressives. I'll put the 5 reel Quick Hits software back in & start all over again. I apologize

Started back from the beginning, have all 5 reels installed & the Quick Hits software, did a clear & set up all settings including the 5 progressive jackpots & percentages of each, pressed exit to game & still have the following errors:
mechanical reels not configured, mechanical reels device error & mechanical reel 3 device error. Still stuck on this cursed machine

Did you ever replace the reel harness bracket? I'm thinking it has to be a wiring issue at this point since you have already changed out all the electronic boards.

That's the only thing I have not replaced, the extra one I had was for a 4 reel machine, just my luck

It may be that reel harness bracket after all. I powered the machine down for 10 minutes now I'm also getting mechanical reel 1 & 5 device errors now when before I was only getting that on reel 3

I ordered and installed a brand new reel harness/bracket & it's still giving me the mechanical reels not configured error so I'm going to order another reel controller backplane board in case the one I have is bad or possibly the wrong one. Can someone verify which of these 2 boards is the correct one for this 5 reel Quick Hits machine please? I'll include a picture of each one, thanks

Both of my steppers have the one with the more connectors on them, although the extra connectors are not being used in either case.

Back to this nightmare. I've changed the following with known good working parts:
Reel Controller Board
All 3 of the USB cables
Reel controller back plane
24v power supply
5/12v power supply
All 5 reels
Brand new 5 reel harness.
Another known working MPU

Still getting reel device errors & mechanical reels not configured. (Note: I did a clear each time I swapped known good working parts)

Should I try a different back plane motherboard? About ready to put the hammer to it, lol!

Just installed a good working backplane, cleared machine, put the OS back in and still getting the mechanical reels not configured. In including a picture of my backplane & reel controller board in case someone sees something out of place

One other thing, during the boot up process I never get any sounds from the speakers, not sure if that's part of the same problem or not just thought I would mention that

And every time it boots up I get a different mechanical reels device error. It can be # 2 & 3, numbers 1 & 5 & sometimes 1, 2, 4 & 5

Looks the same as mine. I don't know what else to tell you. Are you sure your reel controller is known to be good?
