bally 831 hopper part and information

Have a Bally EM 831 in the shop for repair,  hopper motor will not turn on, the override solenoid works, so I know the motor is getting 115vac.(they are in parallel) I took the wires off the motor and I get 6 ohms across the motor winding, the override has 90 ohms,  I believe the motor winding is bad. can anyone verify what ohms reading is typical of the motor winding?

I can use a pair of vice grips and put it on the rotor shaft and turn the hopper, so I believe the gear train is good.

see picture of the hopper motor,  part number is E-119-344,   know where I can get one??

I measure:
com-60hz : 6.5 ohms
com-50hz : 7.5 ohms
50hz-60hz: 1 ohm


did you connect 120V directly to the com and 60hz terminals on the stator?


chuck a power drill onto the armature rotor end and spin it?


the usual problem areas on the old style hopper are:
1] pinwheel is crudded up.  Need to remove the disc and clean the accumulated dirt.  May need to remove the gear and clean the shaft/hole
2] dried lubricant in the stator hole.  Remove stator and clean off the rotor drum and inside stator hole.  There shouldn't be any lube in there.
3] less likely, but the rotor sleeve bearings could have dried lube in them.  Make sure rotor shaft is clean, the bearing can pivot in the carrier, and a little lube on the bearings.
4] check the wiring, solder joints, and payout relay contacts.  The motor needs a lot more current than the override solenoid, so a poor connection will affect the motor first.
