game king: after ram error, bill acceptor only takes dollar bills

helped a guy over the phone. he has a carnival of mystery. he was getting a ram error, but no low battery message.   after a few min on the phone, he did see low battery. he slid in a new battery, turned the reset key. held the test button for 3 seconds and closed the door. game now works, 1 penny demon, as before. however, the bill acceptor only takes dollars now, all else gets rejected.  does it need to be key chiped and reset?  we could find nothing in the menus that  helped. it just shows enabled. its a wba -12  .
