ok forgive my lack of slot savvy, Im learning. When plugging in the machine and turning the switch on there is a 'crackle' from the monitor but nothing else. Speakers -no, BV cycle-no, just the monitor crackle.

Open the door and look at the LEDs on the front of the MPU with the power on, are any of them lit?

BTW you posted this to the M Slot forum. Hopefully a mod will move it to the Game King/Igame forum.

Hey bro, thx for the quick reply! I believe the MPU is the one that has the red/green/yellow light? At first they did, buy after taking the covers off the two 'power boxes' at the bottom to blow out dust they didnt com on anymore.
Before the cleaning the lights would light up two green and one yellow, sometimes just two greens. sending pics.

Hey Tilt, the two Power Boxes I mentioned are below the boards, One has a ribbon connected to it and the other has holes all over, I'm guessing for the heat.

I'm thinking of pulling the whole power box out (the one with the ribbon) maybe I damaged something when r/r the lid,,,,

Yes, the MPU board is the one with the green LEDs. So now there aren't any lit on it when you power it up? The box with the vents on the left is the main power supply. The other your power distribution box and the comm board is on the top of it (has the ribbon cable attached to it). When the MPU board was lit up was the monitor still black?

Monitor has been blank since the get go, even with the green lights on. Just a little more history, When I first got it I would turn it on and the screen would 'crackle' as if it was turning on. The BV would cycle and there was a little noise coming from the speakers, screen still stayed blank. Since I blew out the power boxes inner compartments now all it does is the screen crackle,

Ok. Well you'll need to get the MPU at power up again before doing much else. Try re-seating the main power supply, maybe you didn't get it plugged in all the way? You can also check the fuses on the front of the power distribution box.

0k I removed and uncovered the MPS box, again found no obvious damage. I also removed the cover of the PD box, unbolted the box and pulled out. Did not see anything out of the ordinary. Then I plugged the box to the outlet, with a Current Detector I carefully fished around inside. Had current at various areas but had no current going into or out of the big and small 'coils'. These gray wires coming from the coils connect to the cover of the PD box. Pics included

PS. I havent yet re-installed the boxes yet.

If there's no blown fuses in the power distribution box there's likely nothing wrong with it. The large transformer is the 1:2 that steps up the 115VAC to 230VAC for your monitor. The other is the power transformer for the comm board. The comm board isn't needed for home use unless you're running a TITO board. Your machine was built before they had ticket printers, so don't worry about that board at all.

Put it all back together and check the +13V and +25V from the main power supply. You can check it at J11 on the motherboard. Ground the negative lead to the cabinet and check a red wire on J11, it should have +13VDC, then check an orange wire, it should have +25VDC.

The MPU has LED lights. The motherboard is mounted to the back wall which the MPU connects with.

Here's J11 on the motherboard. This is a 13" cabinet so it looks a bit different than yours, but the motherboard is the same.

Gotcha, I m going to put everything back together and I'll let you know of the voltage. JUST asking, shouldn't one of the transformers have voltage when the PD box is connected to outlet?

Sir, everything is connected, fuses checked, J11 Red has 0 volts and J11 Orange has 0 volts.

Donâ€™t know if this helps-

My game king did the same thing with the crt monitor. Turns out the monitor was making the cracking upon startup- like a second after switching on. Monitor would not show any picture, but the mpu ledâ€™s were on. I ended up buying an lcd kit for it but upon doing so, the place I bought the kit from wanted to try the old crt in a different machine. Same crackle, but it took out their mpu.

I got my kit installed, and low and behold, my sound was now only coming out of one channel. After talking to the brains on this forum, (and replacing parts) narrowed it down to a chip on the mpu board (canâ€™t remember which location).

Anyway- point is, if your monitor is the culprit, I believe the snapping is from the windings arcing on the cathode. That kind of voltage transfer can cause a mess, and damage to other components.

Just my 2 cents.

Well that's not good. Still hear the high voltage crackle in the monitor when you turn it on? Do the lights work? Just want to make sure the AC power is still being distributed as it should be.

Monitor still crackles but nothing else besides the open door light. Shouldn't the transformer have voltage?
