S2000 no sound at all

Hello everyone,
 I just picked up my first S2000 works great except I can’t get the speakers to work. Here are a few pictures of what I’m working with. I have the 2 top speakers and the 1 bass speaker on the bottom. The bass speaker I spliced together because the moles connector was mangled. I checked the amp and there is power going to the speakers soo. . . here I am. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try another MPU if you have one. The chip at U66 YM2413 may be bad. It's a Yamaha sound processor. You should remove the green Varta battery. It's not needed in a home game & will eventually ruin your board when it begins to corrode and leak.

That amp board in the top box could be bad, but my money is on the chip.

Thanks guys I will check that chip and get back to you. I checked the power going to the amp and it’s getting power.

Hey RB, I’m about to order that chip, as long as it’s a ym2413 am I good or do I need to find one that has all the same additional numbers and letters?

The main numbers should work, just be sure it is a dip not a surface mount. The rest of letters refer to that.

PS: the problem you are having sounds just like one I had on my 1st S2000, never did get that working (yet) the sound chip did not fix it. Maybe PM and we can chat.

YM2413B works fine. It's just a revision of the original. When I reinstall one I use a socket so it can be easily pulled & replaced in the future but it's doubtful it will ever need replaced again. I have a chip & socket. On another note power to the amp does not guarantee the amp is good.
