Cash can/box latches or locks - What is everyone using?

I'm talking about the actual bill collection boxes, the bottom doors with 2 holes for locks/latches - not the cash door that you can access thru the belly glass.
So I have 2 machines, One with a WBA cash can, one with an MEI cash box.

Same issue for both types, 2 holes, no latches, no locks, the damn bottom door just falls open as you pull the boxes out. WTF? I know these things were not designed to just swing free when the box is pulled.

When I got them, the first machine had blue painters tape to hold the WBA box shut = Lame, but works I guess.
The MEI box is worse, it starts to fall open as you pull the box, jambing on the framework requiring 2 hands and a hassle to get it out every time = even Lamer than painters tape.

I've seen little yellow thumb latches on MEI cans, that you just squeeze to open and it snaps shut, but I've only seen one latch per box for 2 holes, is there a reason to not have 2 latches? Why don't they have 2? What's the part number? where can I find them?

I've never seen anything on the all metal WBA boxes...what's the part number for that and where can i find them?



The real question is what is everyone else using for their cash can latches? and where can i find some....

On your second box picture.

I just bend the the edges of the panel with the 2 holes a bit near the front so it will drag on the box sides and stay put when I put the box back in. I can post a picture later tonight.

I use double-sided sticky tape inside in the middle between the two holes.

Seems to work!

Lot cheaper than those expensive yellow plastic twist locks.


I seen one guy using small magnets/ tape stuck inside which you can get at hobby shops like JoAnns Fabrics.

I think they use them for shower curtains?

Wba,  I just make a slight dent on the wall, I use the screw driver handle and tap the box to make the detent, pressure of the detent will keep the box lid closed.

MEI,  I use duct tape, double over a small area to use as a pull tab, works quite well.
