s2000 delayed startup

I have a working s2000...startup is delayed...it takes anywhere from 2-20 mins for the machine to actually boot up..all during this time the vfd is blinking "netplex down"just leaving it sit, it eventually starts and runs great...runs untill you shut it off again.ive swapped power supplies with another machine...same issue, so ive prob ruled out power issues...next step is to swap main cpu's...anyone have any ideas?  i know someone else is having the same issue but with a vision machine..maybe can help us both out

I would test or replace all the electrolytic caps on it to see if it improves.  Anytime something needs to "warm up" to get going usually means caps.

I swapped the power supplies from the "slow machine" into a working one..it powered up the right way, but the "slow machine" was still slow, that's why I think ive ruled out power supply issue...could  be wrong tho


also..i should add...this machine is driven by an enhanced board with an R-board.
also...the machine is equipped with all led's....reels, top belly bottom and betdeck lights


when I get home tonight, ill swap out the mpu and r-board *I have 2 of the same games* to see if that makes any difference

If it still has a varta on it it's likely not holding a charge but leaving it on for a while makes it charge enough to boot. It should be removed anyway. If the varta has already been removed i would bet on the mpu being the problem.

well..as usual, you guys were rightim betting that the enhanced mpu board is shoti replaced the mpu last night and it fired right upi turned it on and off several times without any issuesit was off for about 3 hours and it still started as its supposed toits a shame because this board looks brand new...what a waste
anyways..thanks again for everyones input..it helped alot!!!

Just remove the Varta and the regulator chip from the first board and it should be good to go.
Probably should do this to all your enhanced boards.  Follow directions on this link.
