Prepurchase advice s2000

Hello,

Brand new here.    Just getting into looking at slots,  as I'm filled with pins and some arcades.   

I've stumbled upon an individual that has a handful (10-15) isg S2000 games and I believe they are setup for tournament mode?     


How hard would it be to convert them over to normal mode and coin acceptance?     

Would some of these machines be able to be flipped?   They are round top Double Diamonds 3 coin marquees on them.     
They may have the name of the casino they came out of,  so not sure if that would be a plus or minus.   


What else should I look for prior to purchase.   He says he has t turned them on or checked them out,  but out of 80 sold he’s only had 2 bad ones.

Tournament mode is a mode, and can set them up for normal play.
In the S+ - predecessor to the S2000 it was a matter of a few button presses, not sure if this requires a keychip for the S2000.

Some machines have coin handling but the majority coming out of casinos now often do not. They are setup for TITO - Ticket In/Ticket Out and bills.
The coin slot has a little cover on it, and in many cases the hopper is removed other times its there and brand spanking new.
Coin handling is a Coin Head (metal thing that guides the coin in from the outside) - replaces the snap in plate, Coin Comparitor, and hopper.
Like I said sometimes the coinage stuff is there sometimes its not. Need to peek inside.

3 coin themes are often desired over 2 coin themes but no real difference otherwise. Sometimes you have the themes with multiple lines and you can bet on each line - 5 coins, 9 coins etc.
I have 3 slots and they are all setup for 3 coins, and I have 60 additional glass kits all for 3 coin themes.

The bill validator depending on its age may need to be flashed for the new money.

In a non casino setting - you insert a bill, you play, and you get a ticket when you cash out. The ticket is functionally useless as it cant be validated by the machine as you don't have the back end computer system that the casino does.

To make TITO work in a non casino setting. You need to add the Bettor TITO board that is sold by one of our members and it does the validation - if you have 5 machines the ticket will work in any of the machines that have this add on board.

Slots in general have a hierarchy - round tops are the most desirable - esthetics. Followed by the 16" top glass version. In both cases you get maximum art work. this is followed by the 9" chop tops.
The latter is the exact same machine other than the top box is shorter. In all cases having a slot topper is a plus, and the name of the casino on the belly does tend to add authenticity to the game.
There are also cruise ship versions of the slots - sometimes these are made with lighter weight materials and are often not as deep. If the glass is the same size then it probably doesn't matter but sometimes they are also narrower which makes finding alternate themes and glass kits near impossible. On the bottom of the barrel for home ownership is the Slant Tops - heavy monstrosities that you sit infront of. Usually they come complete with the chair integrated into the slot.  You do not want to be toting one of these down the stairs to your games room unless you plan to sell it with the house.

Thanks for all the information.     While looking at these I stumbled upon two s+.  That I picked up for reasonable price.   Black cherry and double diamond deluxe.       Those are running except for one bill validator.     I’ll exam other parts of board for that stuff.    I’m sure I’ll be back for more s2000 info as one of those is def on the list now.    Thinking 5 way setup
