IGT Multi game bill acceptor hardware error

Hi, i need some assistance on my bill acceptor
When I turned on the machine this morning, it all of
a sudden didn't accept any bills (does not even try to feed in the bill).
And i got an hardware error and continuesly 3x (amber) flashes of the acceptor.

What to do?
Validatior looks clean and seems to be mechanically sound.
Bill box firmly in to place, seems clean and in working order.

Any help appreciated.

What type of validator do you have?  The MPU isn't able to communicate with it.

I've never seen one of those in a GK/I-game before.  Is this a US game and validator? 

I assume you probably tried to reboot the machine and see if it works after that?

No it is not a US machine. But logic of finding out the culprit should be the same I imagine.

I have reseated the cash box and the acceptor several times.
I have reseated the small board in the door, small board to the left side of the cabinet and the main boards (drawer).
I have power cycled the machine several times. I have swabed the sensors of the acceptor with a wet (water) cotton bud and then a dry. I have visually inspected the
gears and belts, all look in order.
At every power on the acceptor starts doing its "thing", but by the sound of things it cuts its initiation process short.

I think something has failed in your validator.  The machine tries to communicate with it, but it doesn't respond.  The 3X blink is probably an error code that might help narrow it down, but I didn't have any luck finding a manual for your validator through a quick search on google.

That's the one I saw, but I'm not sure if it applies to your specific validator or not, and didn't see any failure codes based on the 3x blink.  Not sure how difficult it is to find a new validator where you are, but I think that's where I'd start.
