S2000 MB Door Open and Select WAMM or IPC Errors

Hello,

Let me start by saying that I'm a newbie.  This is my first machine and just started educating myself on it within the last couple of days.

I have an S2000 machine with SG000362 in it right now.  I'm getting the following errors that I can't clear or fix:

 - MB Door Open (when I test the money box door input I see it jumping between 1 and 0 when shut, and stays on 0 when open so I assume the sensor is working.
 - Select WAMM or ICP (wont let me select)

I just ordered a set of clear/key chips (IVC00224 and KEY00031) so I'll start with trying a full clear of the MPU and Ram.

I read somewhere that the SG000363 work better so I ordered a set of those as well.

Please let me know if you have any recommendations on best chips to use, and if I should order something different.

Stepper Game - SG000362 or SG000363
Stepper Base - SB100270
Version Chip - VS011GX1
Clear Chip - IVC00224
Key Chip - KEY00031

Any help would be appreciated.  Attached is pic of my MPU and current chips.

First and foremost that is not the mother board. It is a processor board or MPU. The MB is the backplane in the machine.
SG000363 default to WAMM. KEY00045 will allow you to choose WAMM if you wish to use the SG000362. "IPC" is only used in conjunction with an IGT progressive controller. Other than that chips look fine.
Please remove the green Varta battery from your MPU. It will ruin you board without warning. It is not needed for a home game. Yours might already be bad judging from the MB open error that will not clear. Clean up any acid residue after removing the battery and good luck with that MPU. They are getting hard to find and more expensive every day. There are people that repair the traces that have been eaten by battery acid. You posted in the S Plus topics. A moderator may and should move it to S2000.

Thank you for the feedback.  I'll update once put in the SG000363 chips and do a clear with the IVC00224 and KEY00031 chips.  Is there a chance this will fix the MB Door error?  I've already tried disconnecting the wires to the switch and jumping it with a wire.  Didn't resolve the error?  I'll remove the Varta battery, but it looks pretty clean with no acid residue.  Are there any other culprits for MB Door error?  If it turns out the MPU is bad do you know of a source for replacement or repair?  Any idea on cost or availability?  Really appreciate the help!

You also need to address that mess going on at BT1 location with wires leading to that black box
the battery you have in it now is a re-chargeable vl2020 type,that location does not call  for a re-chargeable battery
Go buy a name brand 2032 coin cell type and install a (solder in)2032 battery holder
Basic soldering skills will be needed.

While you have the board off the tray to do this
then you can also de-solder that varta too, instead of
trying to cut it off the board like most people do which sometimes causes damage to the traces
which causes all kinds of door errors...

Take care of the  battery problems first-correctly
then see if at all you have any door errors.

Thanks stormrider.  I have some soldering experience.  I'll de-solder the varta battery first.  Do you have a link or part number for the 2032 solder in batter holder?  Also, do I not need that black battery box with the 2 AA batteries wired into the BT1 location?  Is the only battery needed/recommended a 2032 name brand coin cell?

Clearing will not resolve a damaged board problem. Badbaud and Lookes on the forum repairs boards. You can contact one of the vendors on the home page for replacement. Try Jim @ Midwest Slots. They are running in the $150 range these days.

I've seen everything now. A "AA" battery box with 2-1.5vdc batteries. You have done your test on bill door. What about main door? It is in the processor menu. You could just have bad or misaligned door optics. Try everything else before doing a clear. When you turn the machine on, what lights are lit on the board? Any other messages in the vfd?

Yes, I did I/O Input tests on both the main door and money box door and the belly door.  When the doors are open I get a "0" feedback.  When they are closed I get a alternating "0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 1..." feedback for both.  Am I supposed to see a solid "1" feedback?    The only error messages I am getting are the MB Door and the Select WAMM or IPC.  As for the lights, I just have the 3rd and 4th amber lights on.

0,1,0,1, is what you should get. Have you checked your chips? Were they possibly installed backwards? I would think board is toast or a bad chip

Ok, it sounds like all the door sensors/switches check out.   I have not checked or replaced any chips yet.  I am going to swap out the SG000362 chips with SG000363 chips when I do the clear.  I'll also remove and inspect the Stepper Base - SB100270 and the Version Chip - VS011GX1 and make sure they look ok and are seated properly.  Think I should just replace those as well?

You don't need to clear except to change denomination. Just change the chips and turn the key a few times. Make it work before you cause more work for yourself having to setup everything.

Thanks for the help everyone. A clear and new SG chips got it working.  Next question.  Does anyone know where I could find a player tracking panel.  I don’t need it to work, just want to cover up the holes and look complete.  Thanks!
