Excellent!  Glad you figured it out  !  That's not a stupid award, it's sometimes really tough to find problem like that with a new to you machine that you don't know the complete history of.  If anything that's a kudos award for paying attention to detail because those connectors are keyed so you can't connect them incorrectly.  Unless of course they're damaged.  Something that most people trying to help you with (including me) wouldn't normally expect to be a problem.  It's also another reason why we like to see pictures.  Sometimes things like that can be caught with good photos.  Luckily for you the BV has a reverse polarity protection diode in it so it didn't damage it.

I'd still use the WBA coming from Jim, it will be cleaned, calibrated, and have the most latest available firmware installed in it.

Definitely will install the WBV from Jim! I want to thank you for all your help, I understand how forums work. I have a lot of experience over at a pinball forum called pinside.   I got started with this "gaming stuff" because of pinball machines, I got 2 plus a cocktail MAME machine I put together out of an empty cabinet. Hopefully as I learn more I can contribute more to this forum!
