S+ Top Dollar stuck in 64_1 Error

Hi everyone,
Im pretty new to the forum and very new to these machines, ive tried reading any relating threads and went through most of the file system but im not sure where to go from here.


I recently purchased a S+ Top Dollar machine that I was told was working before the battery died but i dont know for sure.

I replaced the battery and got 61_1 error which i was able to reset. Now when I power it up the reels spin and initialize but it is showing 64_1 error and I cant figure out what exactly that means or how to reset it. I see error 64
 means "Link Down" which im assuming is some kind of network link? i dont see any procedure for clearing it.

Additional problem possibly related?
The top box display/lights never came on so I checked for power at the plug shown disconnected in the last picture, It was getting no power so i plugged this power supply in directly to 120v and was able to get the top box to light up. The top box is now showing C_01 with the 64_1 in Winner Paid.


Any help would be greatly appreciated

I believe the 64 means the mpu is not communicating with the top box.   Try reseating the top box unit, make sure is pushed back all the way.  The black interface box on back wall just under the reel shelf, check it's connection to top box.  There is also a varta battery inside the top box unit that should be removed before damage is done from leakage. That also could be your problem.

That sent me in the right direction, i noticed a broken ground behind the plug for the top mpu and that took care of my problem.

Now the machine is working but I am getting no sound, I cant find the PSR for my SP1293 chip, will I need that to enable sound if it is disabled?

Congratulations on getting your machine up and running. Top Dollar is a highly sought after title and is especially valuable these days.

Be aware that there is a Varta battery in the processor board module of the Barcrest unit. If/when that battery leaks it will damage the Barcrest board significantly.

To the best of my knowledge the battery can just be removed from the board. If the machine won't function without it then it can be mounted externally to the board so it won't cause damage when it leaks.
