IGT SPlus won’t register bills

I have 3 SPlus machines. All have WBA DBV. Only one of the machines will register credits when I put bills in. I tried the functioning transporter in the other 2 machines. They cycle and will take the bill in but it won’t register credits and will spit the bill back out. I know nothing about SPlus machines. Any guidance would be appreciated.

It sounds like you need a set chip to enable the BV on the other two machines.
If your buying a set chip buy a clear chip at the same time.

If you go to the NLG home page, bottom right there is RICKS FAQs that go into detail on how to use a SET chip.
Any of the vendors with a banner can sell you a SET chip.

All sorts of other good info on the S+ setup and use in that section as well.
Post back if you have specific questions or the Set Chip doesn't do the job.....

Neither of those numbers or number formats are familiar to me.
Generally speaking a Set 15 or a Set 90 are the common ones.

The S+ operations is governed by two chips: Game and Program.

The Game Chip is the Operating system of the S+ and its "Type" must be compatible with the program chip. There is an associated document called a PSR - Program Summary Report that details all the settings and options that you can program the machine. IE Hopper limits, Credit Limits, Bell on all wins, Bell only on Jackpots, No bell, reel sounds, stop sounds etc. This document also recommends a particular SET chip. This is not a hard and fast rule as newer Set Chips were often backwards compatible. I personally find the Set90 pretty universal.

The Program Chip is the theme of the machine - Double Diamond, Haywire, Triple Diamond Deluxe, etc. The document that describes this is called a PAR sheet. Paytable and Reel. Here you will find the payback percentages, Within any particular theme there may be 6-8 different chips with different payback percentages available. You will find this in the IGT game bible (also under Ricks FAQS). You can also get 2 coin chips, 3 coin chips, 5 coins etc. The theme may have special features like Double Diamond Deluxe has arrows that point up or down on the diamonds and if they are above or below the pay line they nudge to make it a winner. These special features are called a TYPE .... In this case I believe this would be a Type 2 game. The Game chip may be suitable for Type 0, 2, 4, & 6. But if the game was different like a Haywire theme with a different type you would have to use a different game chip.

If you follow Ricks FAQs you can get the Coins in / winner paid to display the Game and Program chip numbers and if you post them here some kind member may respond with the PSR and Par Sheets for your game. Also helpful is if you post the themes of the games you have. The PAR/PSR sheets are also available in the download section open to contributing members. It also helps to ensure your profile is up to date with your email address so someone can email you items. Best not to post an email address in open forum as various web crawlers pick these up and you start to get a lot of spam.







The proper Set chip to use is often specified in the PSR (Program Summary Report) associated with your game chip.

With the machines I got a Clear F760 and Val set B6B7 are they correct?

F760 is the checksum for IVC123, B6B7 for SET026. IVC123 is good. The set chip may depend on what SP chip(s) you are using.

Well I installed the Val set and the machine was set to 9-1 I set denomination put the game chip back in got the 61 code cleared it but still will not register bills. Do I need to try a clear or is something else amiss?

Don't use the clear chip if you don't have to.  Only when the machine starts to do something weird..
Sometimes when the battery on the MPU dies, you change it and then the machine gets stuck in a 61-1 loop (where you can't get pas this) you would use a clear.

Regarding the bill acceptance - the software on these bill validators may be out of date, so use older bills and preferably start with a $1 as its most universally accepted.
Did the light on the bill bezel come on ??

Light is on the bill bezel.  None of the bills are registering. When I put the DBV into my one SPlus (the only one that does accept bills) it accepts all the bills with no problem. It appears that I have the 9-1 activated I’m not sure what else to try?  Should I try swapping the entire bill assembly (including wires) from the known working machine to the non working one?

5. It’s a nickel machine is that correct?. The one thing that is different on the working machine is that wins go to credits. On the 2 none working (don’t accept bills ) all wins are paid out by the hopper immediately

The reason for my question, was that part of the using of the set chip was setting the denomination.

Setting it to 5 might be $5 vs .05

The S+ doesn't know what denomination it is, everything including the glass speaks of coins not quarters, nickels etc.
The only thing that would be labeled 5c would be the center denomination sticker in the middle of the machine.
The coin comparator, compares the inserted coin with what it has as a sample... and gives you a credit.

What the set chip does is tell the bill validator how many credits to give for a dollar.
IF you set it to 25c then you get 4 credits for a dollar on the machine..... 5c would give you 20 credits.
If you set it for $5 then inserting a dollar bill would get you nada and a $5 bill would get you 1 credit.

I wanted to make sure you scrolled through the denominations. Selected it, and completed the set procedure.

On your other question.... You might be able to get the wins to accumulate as credits if you simply hit the cash/credit button on the left.
This is also a setting you can make. Post your game and reel chip numbers and we can review the correct PSR to make these kinds of changes.

The PSR should help you change the wins pay to credit settings etc.
I have also included Rons Simplified S+ cheat sheet. The PSR is not the most straight forward document to read but if you look at it side by side of the cheat sheet it starts to make sense pretty quick.

Can I install a complete WBA bill acceptor including wire harness, from a known working S2000 into a SPlus?  Not sure if they are compatible?

Yes but requires a few modifications. Also needs S+ firmware and a different power supply.  I think Midwest Jim has everything you need.

Not quite.....

The hardware is the same, but the validator protocol is not the same.
Depending on the model of WBA you will need to swap out the chip.

Ok. Thanks. The 3 WBA that I have for the Splus have EPROMs. I wonder if there is a difference between the 3 machines, as far as, the EPROMs are concerned. The one that works has a WBA - 20SS transporter and WBA-12SS head.  But it will not work in the other 2 machines

The 2 that don’t work with the EPROM from the working machine have WBA21SS transporter with WBA-13SS heads
Maybe they require a different EPROM?

What about going the other way.....

Take the MPU board from the non-working platform, put it in the one with the working validator.
Move the MPU board from the working and put it in the non working one.
Run the set chip and see what you get.
