IGT S+ 9" Cabinet, changing nickels to quarters (need help on hopper screws)

I know everything I have to do to do this... But I had some hopper shelf wheels that had "nubs" on em to agitate the nickels.. Well the ones I just got for the quarters are totally smooth... Now the nickel one didnt need a star agitator piece thus it needed shorter screws...  SO HERE IS MY DILEMMA....  I bought a star agitator for each and the screws they are using ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH TO GO THROUGH THE SHELF WHEEL AND THE STAR AGITATOR....  HOW IMPORTANT, OR DO I EVEN NEED THAT STAR AGITATOR FOR THE QUARTERS??? And if so, what size screw???

You need the agitator to scoop up the quarters...
I would take the entire hopper and one of the short screws to your local hardware store. There should be a section for fasteners. You can measure the length and thread ... probably fine thread. Then just look through the bins and find the one that fits.

You WILL need the agitator! The coins will jam up and bind and it will be a mess! As for the size of screws, try the ones that hold the hopper bowl on the hopper frame (the ones that go through the springs). If I recall correctly, these should be the right length. I believe this is correct, but it's been awhile.

Sweet tip!  This is WHY I ASK HERE!!! I was gonna get em on, but was seeing if it would screw up anything or just not work well....  I bought new ones and the ones I took off are bit used, but if I HAD to change em out, I would. (then I would I have extras)  Also, does it matter if the triangle one is used over the one Sigma uses more shaped like a snowflake?  (What I am asking is are they interchangeable and just preference or are they made for specific makes only?)


Also, though I don't have any nickel machines up n going now that I converted 6 of them today, I am wondering on the nickel shelf wheel they had those steel "nubs" as part of the wheel itself, which obviously agitates the money;  DO YOU NEED A RUBBER CENTER AGITATOR WHEN HAVING THAT TYPE OF SHELF WHEEL?  I ask because half had one, and half did not....

You ABSOLUTELY need an agitator for quarters....they are too heavy/large and will not feed without one. Nickels, you're ok without an agitator. Everyone wants a quarter machine, so just add the conversion cost on to the machine price. If you buy in quantity, you can convert a machine for <$25.00.


Yeah, you can jimmy rig some shelves to work in some scenarios, but it won't be to your benefit, as it will ultimately result in coin jams, false coin outs, and faulty hopper errors...

I figured so... Converting each machine cost me 9 bucks for shelf wheel, 5 bucks for a knife (i couldda used a used one, but since they were the plastic I figured put in new, and not receive a call 364 days out saying hopper problems and I go over to see what the problem is (I give a 365 day guarantee on my machines (not on lights or damage done by user when door is open especially isnt covered...) the result of a super worn out knife...  Rather pay the few bucks and NOT have problems then to have to do it anyway and have my refurbishing look shoddy and/or like I cut corners/jury rigged something.... I received a 25 cent denomination sticker for free, already owned a set chip (they are less than 10 bucks and u can do 20-30 machines if you are careful with it before the thing starts to lose legs or have problems from the sheer amount of removing and sticking it in... So really, if you already have a denom set chip you can do it for 15....  (Or you can pay someone to do it....  I cant believe what a client told me the other day he was charged for a battery change AFTER HE HAD GIVEN THE GUY THE BATTERY AND MAILED THE BOARD TO HIM...  HE CHARGED HIM 30 BUCKS!!!  For 2 min of work... IS THIS NORMAL, AND I AM UNDERCHARGING EVERYONE, OR IS THAT INSANE PRICING N TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEEPS' IGNORANCE?)

Also, what is the average price per hour people charge to do a house call?  Is 75.00/hour the norm?  It seems to be in Utah. And that is insane to me, with all the info out there (HERE)....
