I have the 7 segment 5-5-2 display that matches the short VFD assy you have. It's not made for a long glass and shelf. More parts are needed to convert it. You would be money and time ahead to buy a complete long glass display, then repair and reroute your harness. FYI, your long reel glass is for a 6-6-3. Using a long 6-6-3 will require an adapter for that harness.

As Ron said, you have to fix that brown wire, remove the lamp assembly holder, take out the wiring and reroute it underneath the button panel so the connector is in the middle of the area where the display will be.

purchase a long display and adapter and that should solve your issue.

only question is do you want to use multi denom or single denom, do you want to use touch pad or add a switch/button for multi denom?? 

I have all those parts available.
