Bill Validator and light bulbs for IGT S2000

Hi folks.

I need a BV for an IGT S2000 Triple Double Diamond. I just need the head/transporter/bezel assembly; I don't need the stacking can. If this helps, the numbers on the BV are 'WBA 12 SS' and the machine was manufactured in February of 2002. I don't know much about slots, so please make sure this is something that just slides in and works.

I also need at least one, but prefer or 3, of those twist-in light bulbs to illuminate the 25 cent 'window' on the front door.

You need the bulb, the bulb holder, or both?

You may want to ask for a WBA 13, it is the same validator, but it is eprom based.  It  makes upgrading the validator easier as new bill types are released, although I don't know if JCM will continue to make firmware available for the WBA 13- since it is already 2 generations back behind the UBA and now the iVizion line.

Okay, I clicked on a few of the CVS sponsored links, found a BV at GameKingSlots and sent a msg. Within an hour, I received a call from Jeremy. He has an upgraded BV (WBA 13 - thanks rickhunter!).

After I mentioned that I got his link from NLG, he knocked the price down to $30.00 and said he would support the sale (unlike the 'As Is' items on eBay).

So, I now have a BV on the way and hope to have the machine up/running at 100% soon.

BTW: I'm still looking for the bulbs!

Gary  Do me a favor and there is no need to actually swing the main door open, but lift the main door latch all the way up, wait a second or two and lower it all the way down. Do this three or four times. Now see if the BV is now working.
 
Maybe I should explane WHY. A S2000 will clear one error everytime that main door is opened and closed, and will clear one error only each time. that's why you need to open and close the latch 3 or 4 times.

I did as you suggested, but the BV still doesn't work.  Actually, Roslyn (and others) offered numerous suggestions, any several of them resolved other problems, but nothing fixed the BV. She sent me your suggestion/directions to run the CRC check, which provided the 'No Response' message.

As I told her, it sorta sucks to have to buy a BV, but it sucks much more to have $$ invested in something that doesn't work as it should. Up until I ran the CRC test, there was no conclusive proof that is was the BV. Now, that I know what it is, I can replace it, so I'm actually pretty happy.

Roslyn said you're OTR, so I'm sure your down time is pretty valuable to you, and I sincerely appreciate the time and effort you put into helping me - and other strangers (though none may be no stranger than I) - that have problems with their machines. I live just south of Springfield, IL (near Chatham), so please give me a call if you ever get through this way and your meal is on me (217 - 622-8255).

I'll be sure to post an update after I install the replacement BV.

I hope the BV works for you. I have had that problem 2 times now where I tried clearing and resetting along with replacing the BV with a known good one and still the BV would not come on. Replaced the MPU both times and the BVs worked. Not sure where the problem is on the MPU. I would think it has something to do with the green battery when they start to leak???

I've seen several posts about the notorious green battery, so I guess I better read a little more about how to find it and see if I have one too.

I just had one stop working out of the blue. I could hear it cycling, but it had a different sound than we always hear. Ended up being the cash can binding. Changed cans and all worked again. Then I figured what the heck and hit the gears with a little wd40 and now that can works again.

Yeah, we looked at that possibility too, but the can seems to slide in/out just fine. It's been a looooong journey, but I think we've verified that the BV is bad, so I'm just gonna bite the bullet and replace it. I found one for $40.00 (with S&H) and a guarantee, so I'm happy.

As long as all the cycle sound about the same. If any part of it sounds sluggish, like mine did, then could be a problem.
