Jumping the two pins should have cleared the memory. Apparently the reset isn't working, possibly missing a step in the ALL CLEAR procedure or the RAM chips are indeed bad. Ask around and see if a computer repair center near you might have the proper jumper.

I couldn't read all the chip numbers from the photo's. The only ram chips I could find was the main CPU board memory, BANK 0. As UNIMAN stated this machine, a Model XT8304, uses the IBM XT chassis. There are two Goldstar 44256 70ns DRAM chips in sockets, U14 & U17. You can swap the two with each other and perform an all clear reset again. Still get an error on startup? Then I'd buy a couple of new ones.

If the machine boots up correctly you should see a menu with options something like the one shown below.

Hi,

As we had a doubt about the all clear, I took a jumper on an electronic board of our heat pump...

At the start of the slot machine with the jumper on the all clear, a slam was heard, I thought that a component had exploded but after verification, it was not the case.

Starting without the jumper on the all clear, the settings menu is displayed and I manage to navigate the menu with the door buttons (hold 1, hold 2, deal).

Unfortunately I guess you have to select return to game to enter the game but this is the only function that is not accessible to me...
The deal button does not work on return to game...

The out of memory message is even selectable in the settings.

Parameters to change or check maybe?

Your making progress.

So we should go to the setup menu to set the coin value, hopper settings, if there's a bill validator, credit limits, etc.

Post a photo of the Machine Setup menu.

Turning the key clockwise or closing the main door should exit back to the game if it's setup correctly.

The menu has nothing to do with the photo you posted above.

The different options are displayed at the bottom right of the screen and change each time I press hold 1 and hold2.

The display is not of good quality and sometimes makes reading difficult.

To note, the slot machine, or more precisely the cards of the slot machine are connected on a computer flat screen, the screen of the slot machine being cut after a few seconds.

So the screen and display problems will have to be solved but in the moment, this is not the priority.

But actually the door remains open and I sometimes pressed the door connector but not permanently, which can actually be a problem.

By cons turning the key does not return to the game.

Note that the key reacts differently than what you describe. The small notch (detractor) is located at the top so no other possibilities to insert the key.
I can only turn it a quarter turn in the direction of the aiguiles of a watch and once in this position, impossible to remove the key. So I only have those two options:

- position where I insert the key
- 1/4 turn clockwise

The photo I posted was an example of a typical menu screen from a another model machine.

Since I don't have a manual for your machine you'll have help me along with posting some more photos of what you have, i.e. key switches, door switches, video screen etc.

Hi,

A first series of various photographs:

- the key on the side
- slot machine screen (which turns off after a few seconds)
- the door switch
- the buttons on the front

Display the screen after turning the key to the side.
Between these different photos, just one press on hold 1

So the memory corrupt error is still present? Did the all clear remove the error message?

There are no labels on the key switches so not much help there.

Is the original CRT tube Video Screen dead? I see your using a video monitor now. Are you tapped into a cga or vga output port?

The video screen in the photo is corrupt, a menu is trying to pop up. This could be an issue with the video graphics output card.

The memory problem is unfortunately still present.

What should I do with the jumper? Turn the key to the side while the jumper is on the all clear?

The original CRT screen is not dead but turns off for no reason after a few moments. Its display is not exceptional either.

I had found another 36 cm CRT screen to replace it but the slot connector being very specific, I could not (the screen having a peritel socket).

There I am on a TFT screen connected directly to the VGA jack of the slot machine.
The menu appears well by cons but the image quality is not exceptional.

Note, the quality was perfect (on the VGA screen) before I made the first all clear with the copper wire connecting the 2 pins, strange right?

No parameter settings present in the photos would solve this memory problem?

I just saw that the photos appear upside down on the forum...

You asked; "What is role of battery?"

The battery provides voltage while AC power is off to maintain memory on memory chip or chips.

The slot machine was unplugged for a very long time.

What does that mean?
The all clear would have only partially worked?

Why do you think the quality of the display deteriorated during the very first all clear? How to go back? A damaged component?

The memory problem is unfortunately still present. We need to resolve the memory issue.

What should I do with the jumper? Turn the key to the side while the jumper is on the all clear?Without the manual or a setup menu it's guess work on performing a all clear reset. The correct jumper on the last reset sounded like it did the job. Although if the memory is bad then a reset will not work. You can try the key during a reset but keep in mind it's a shot in the dark.

The original CRT screen is not dead but turns off for no reason after a few moments. Its display is not exceptional either.

I had found another 36 cm CRT screen to replace it but the slot connector being very specific, I could not (the screen having a peritel socket).

No parameter settings present in the photos would solve this memory problem?Yes, a memory problem. Take a look at the boards and see if you can identify any more memory chips (i.e. #4256).

Does turning the key to the side present a risk of damaging the machine or erasing the game?

Yes, a memory problem. Take a look at the boards and see if you can identify any more memory chips (i.e. #4256).
It would therefore perhaps be wise for me to order the components previously mentioned. ?

Turning the key will not erase the game chips.

The RAM memory is the 41256 or 44256. It's not necessary to order/change the 74f244n & 74f245n, they control data transfer.

Check the board with the battery on it for memory. There appears to be graphics chips on that board.

Hi,

I just tested an all clear by turning the key on the side but still the memory problem...

I tried to set the date and time but when I come out of this menu and I go back to check, it did not keep the date or the time... It is the memory that must be responsible for this problem and not the battery I think?
Which would confirm that I have to order ram 14256b.

What could have damaged this 14256b ram?

Another point that I had not addressed, when I bought it, there was absolutely no display, I thought the screen HS but I finally found a tantalum capacitor exploded, C2, it had to be replaced three times, it exploded systematically.

During the first all clear, I also have another tantalum capacitor that exploded, the C26, I thought after replacement that the display problem that appeared would be corrected but it did not change anything.

Do you think there’s a connection?

I tried to set the date and time but when I come out of this menu and I go back to check, it did not keep the date or the time... It is the memory that must be responsible for this problem and not the battery I think? It's both.
Which would confirm that I have to order ram 14256b.

What could have damaged this 14256b ram?Interrupted power, static electricity, weak battery, old memory chip.

Another point that I had not addressed, when I bought it, there was absolutely no display, I thought the screen HS but I finally found a tantalum capacitor exploded, C2, it had to be replaced three times, it exploded systematically.Sounds like the filter(s) capacitors in the monitor power supply have failed and C2 can't handle the A/C noise. I would avoid using the monitor until the power supply issue is fixed to prevent problems with the video card. Leave the CRT unplugged and use the external video monitor.

During the first all clear, I also have another tantalum capacitor that exploded, the C26, I thought after replacement that the display problem that appeared would be corrected but it did not change anything.

Do you think there’s a connection? It's possible. The video card has ram and the error message could be from the card.

Leave the CRT unplugged and use the external video monitor.

No other possibilities anyway because the CRT screen of the machine turns off very quickly after ignition.

The video card has ram and the error message could be from the card.

Could the memory error message be caused by the video card?

How can I solve the problem?

Yet the date and time are not kept when I enter them in the settings and the video card can not be the cause I think?

So concretely, what are the next steps? What do you advise me?
