Could the memory error message be caused by the video card? It's possible, but I would focus on the other ram chips first. The video card has a couple of RAM chips on it that could be corrupt, not an easy swap though as they are soldered in. As a test you may be able to swap with another VGA video board. You can do some research and see if you can find one that's common for the XT PC chassis. That's a 16 bit card in an 8 bit slot, shouldn't be hard to find. But again I'd start working on the other ram chips first.

How can I solve the problem?Start with replacing the RAM on the main board (easy-socketed), then on the battery backup board if there is any (couldn't read the chips in the photos) and then the video card memory.

Yet the date and time are not kept when I enter them in the settings and the video card can not be the cause I think? The date and time are typically held on the main board and maintained with a battery or capacitor. Low priority, fix the ram first.

So concretely, what are the next steps? What do you advise me?See above.

I have already replaced circuit boards on pinball boards by placing them on tulip support.

So do not hesitate to tell me which components/ memory it is in order to replace all the memories

Hi,

I have finally received the components, I will proceed to their replacement.
For confirmation, after replacing them, I proceed again to an "all clear"?

Hi,

Components replaced and "all clear" performed, unfortunately the error message "out of memory" is still present and the game still does not start when I’m on "return to game" and I press the "deal" button.

Other memories to replace most certainly as you mentioned?
I’m following new photos of the maps that will allow you, I hope, to better distinguish the components.

There's not too much memory to change.

The CPU Board.
 - 2 chips - BANK 0 - U14 & U17 - GM71C4256B-70

The Video Board
 - 2 chips - U2 & U3 - GM71C4256A-70

Game Board
 - 1 chip - RAM - U38 - D43256AC-10L

The Game Board RAM should be changed next. That requires unsoldering the chip from the board. Install a socket for the new RAM chip. This chip uses the BT-1 battery to retain setup & game information, I would find the correct battery and install it on the board. It's a lithium rechargeable battery, there's charge circuit on the CPU board.

If you still have a memory error after changing the Game Board RAM then change the Video card ram too. These also need to be unsoldered from the board.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback!
I have the following components:
HYB514256B-70
Peuvent-ils être utilisés sur la carte CPU et la carte vidéo?

Can you clarify this:
Quote
"The RAM of the board must be changed. The chip must be unsoldered from the card. Install a socket for the new memory chip. This chip uses the BT-1 battery to keep setup and game information, I would find the right battery and install it on the board. It’s a rechargeable lithium battery, there’s a charging circuit on the processor board."

Can you locate them on the map?

I was wondering if simply the clear as I do it does not work.

You were telling me the procedure for slot machines equipped with a toggle switch:
You have to hold this switch flip by turning on the slot machine, hold for 3 seconds and release.

Would it not be possible, from the all clear of the card to connect a push button in order to follow this procedure?
If so, how to connect it?

I was wondering if simply the clear as I do it does not work.THE "ALL CLEAR" MAY BE WORKING OKAY BUT CANNOT CLEAR THE BAD RAM CHIP.

You were telling me the procedure for slot machines equipped with a toggle switch:

Would it not be possible, from the all clear of the card to connect a push button in order to follow this procedure?
If so, how to connect it?THE MACHINE YOU HAVE USES A JUMPER TO PERFORM AN "ALL CLEAR" RESET, THIS SHOULD WORK OKAY. ADDING A SWITCH OR PUSH BUTTON IN PLACE OF THE JUMPER WILL SERVE THE SAME PURPOSE BUT SHOULDN'T BE NECESSARY.

Hi,

Set up the cards again and with the cards under eyes, it’s easier...

U14 and U17 have been replaced on the CPU board.
I will replace U2 and U3 on the video card.

And I still have to order U38 for the game board.

Hello,

I'm finally getting back to working on the slot machine.

I replaced the components mentioned.

Boards reinstalled, slot machine plugged in.

There's a clicking sound and a burning smell.
After disassembly, it turns out that C2 exploded, even though it had already been replaced...
What do you think the problem is?
What should I do now?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome back I had to go back and refresh my memory on what we've been through.

The caps that are burning up...are they on the video monitor or the the XT game power supply? That C2 burning and others as well could be the caps were installed in reverse polarity or more that likely the voltage rating was exceeded. If there's way you can power up the supply and verify the DC voltages are correct would be the next step.

The game power supply has DC output voltages of 5v (pink), 9.5v (green-yellow), 12v (red), 24v (orange), 32v (violet) and ground (black). The video monitor uses 110vac .

Hello,

That's very kind of you!

Regarding the tantalum capacitor, there's usually little risk of error; the polarity is marked on the board and on the component itself.

I'm not using the console screen at the moment; it has a problem, and to proceed step by step, I focused on the slot machine first. I connected a PC monitor via a VGA cable.
The power supply isn't delivering any voltage at the moment... Could this be due to the exploded tantalum capacitor?

Regarding the power supply, I don't have all the wire colors listed.

The voltage examples given are sort of a "standard " for Universal machines.

Looking at your supply there appears to be a voltage input plug 110vac (black-white-green) then two wires back to the power switch (black-blue) and then a molex plug with several wires. The molex is the low voltage out of the switching power supply. It looks like three outputs, the pink (5vdc), red (12vdc) and the blue (30vdc).

Check the fuse which is for the 110vac. With 110vac to the supply and the power switch on you should have low voltage outputs.

You're right, it's definitely the fuse!

But why did it blow?

I don't have a fuse that size. Can I replace it with a larger one of the same amperage?

See photo below.

Sure can, looks like a fast blow.

You may have a short pulling the power supply down. Replace the fuse and power up with the low voltage molex unplugged. If the fuse holds then there may be a short in the cabinet wiring or on one of the boards.

Hello,

Upon closer inspection, it's a 3-amp fuse, not a 4-amp one.

My fuses are pinball machine fuses, so they're time-delay fuses. Will that cause a problem when replacing this one?
