WBA 11 SS wont take any new bills with software eprom

Hi,

I have what seems to be a wba 11ss and i bought a eprom chip to update the software so it would take the newer bills. The chip is WBA 10/11 v3.60-03 IDO23. I have attached picures of the bill acceptor and eprom. Im not sure if I got the wrong chip for it or what but it will still only take 1 dollar bills and it should be able to take 10s,20s and i believe 100s. Let me know if you have any ideas or if I have the wrong eprom chip installed.

V3.60 does not take new $5 or $100. It should take $10, $20 & $50 if it is working properly. WBA 12/13 will take the $5 with V3.75 software.
There's no software available for the new $100 ID023. I'm don't think WBA 10/11 has 4 way acceptance so be sure bills are inserted face up.

Yep, one way acceptance, face up and black seal first.  Multiple ways of acceptance were lost on the 1mb eprom as more new styles of bills were released.

I am inserting a crisp 10,20 that works on other wbas and this one just won’t recognize them but only recognizes ones. I’m guessing I just need to clean it good or could it be a bad part?

If this bill acceptor transport is "new to you", try flipping dipswitch #2 in the opposite direction of what it currently is in, and then try some older bills of denominations other than $1 and see if it works.

All the dip switches are set to off.

 I tried turning dip switch 2 to on and it acted the same but didn’t take ones as well. This wba came with the machine so I’m unsure if it’s past. At this point my best guess is the eye that detects the bills isn’t working great but maybe it’s something else. Thanks for all the suggestions!

The scanner head may need the lenses cleaned internally and calibrated

I did clean the lenses and no such luck. I looked through the manual and the calibration seems to require a calibration paper. Is there somewhere i can get that paper?

Well I officially hate wba 11s. I made the calibration paper and no such luck. The bv completely cycles up on start and the bezel lights up but won’t wake any bills. I then wanted to know if the calibration paper worked so I used it on my other bv that was already working and now it lights up but won’t take any bills lol. I went from 1 working to 0. These things are so frustrating to deal with. Is there something I can do with the calibrated one to get it back reading? Any more ideas or tests would help a lot!

Im confused because im getting rapid flashes but then the bv wont take any bills afterwards. Do I need to do a additional step afterwards?

You only need to turn the dips back off for normal operation.

Yea I have done that and now it just doesn't take any bills lol. I did the stand alone test that's pinned on this forum that should read the bills and spit them into the can area and it wont read any bills now and does 7 led flashes regardless of the bill i insert. Its mind-blowing to me that the calibration test somehow has made it stop working.

I agree with you, the cal. test should not have changed anything. what did you clean the lens with?  the heads are interchangeable,
the stand alone test is a test for the transport and head only, the machine will only supply power, if the two red LEDS are on, then typically the power supply is providing power.
1-2-3-8 down, power off, pull out the cash can, insert the transport in the machine, turn on power, flip 8 up, unit should cycle briefly, now insert bills.

easy solution, upgrade to a wba12, only have to change the harness on the shelf assembly, everything else is the same.

I have units available and harness.  or reach out to sunrise side on this forum, he can repair your units.

Just cleaned it with paper towel that was a little wet. The bezel flashes 7 times regardless of the bill. I will do a super good clean on it and if not send these off to be repaired. Is there a guide on switching the harness for a wba 12?

No guide, just removal of one or two screws on the left outer side of the housing, and two screws on the inside backwall, that frees the shelf assembly to be removed from the metal housing, then two screws to remove the harness.  replace the harness with the wba 12 type, pay attention that the red wire goes on the bottom, then re insert the shelf assembly secure with the screws. done.

the two smaller screws inside are metric and could strip out if you don't use a good screwdriver.
