First time Poster! - To Clean or not to Clean?

Hi,

What a fantastic community you all have created!  I just got lucky and acquired a Bally Manufacturing Corporation Draw Poker Machine.  V1336-1 / 42

It's a four-board version.  I hear these are great

So my first question is, should I clean the dust from the machine?  It's gross, but it's working perfectly!  Well, until I tried to remove the boards, and some cable came loose.  I pushed on some connectors and it's back to functioning.

What would you do?

And does anyone know what these numbers mean behind the top glass?

Can you try vacuming or blowing the dust off with a compressor, me personally I sometimes get in to trouble unplugging older components .

I have a compressor in my workshop is that too powerful?  I was going to use the cans of electronic dust cans.  But I was also wondering if it did any good.  Especially if the machine is working.

I use my compressor and turn the pressure to about 30psi.

Two things come to mind.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  The other is preventative maintenance can be a good thing.  With older stuff though you risk breaking more things than you fix by taking them apart in my experience.  Your machine, your call.

I would be careful about poking around the inside of my slot machine with a vacuum cleaner. With the static charge buildup, there's no telling what damage you might do.
