IGT G22 Slant Top Multi-Game Slot Machine
« on: July 16, 2024, 06:29:14 pm »
 Hello all,
I am a new owner of a used IGT G22 Slant Top Multi-Game Slot Machine.  I do not know about it. The year that it was made? If it is a CRT or a LED model? The company that sold it to me did not know the machine, except that they purchased the slot machine in a 100-slot machine bundle from one of the LAs Vegas Casinos.

I am wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase an owner's manual for this machine. I would also like a parts list and repair manual. Also, a place to go for different parts that may be reasonable.  It already sounds like I will need some new fans, a few lights, and maybe a few other options once I learn more about the machine.  This machine has a video monitor that is interactive by touchscreen, a free play button, and a printer that has not been placed into the machine as of yet to print out a ticket that reads, "For Entertainment Purposes Only".
I am hoping that someone may be able to inform me how to place the printer into the machine and have it work. Or, maybe the repair manual could do this for me?

Currently way over my head.  :banghead: :fryingpan:

Post a few pictures of your machine inside and out.  Photo's have to be less than 1MB in size, so you may need to resize them to get under that limit.  There should be a tag on the side of the machine that shows the date of manufacture.  All AVP machines as far as I know had LCD displays.

Assuming it's an AVP machine you'll need an Ekey 7 and a diag drive to properly maintain your machine.

Once we see what you have we can probably help you more.

Hello Tilt,

I am new to this website and do not know how to use it, but I am trying.  I am finding it very difficult to use.

How do I post a picture of my slot? I have taken pictures but do not see anywhere to upload them.  You were correct in your analysis of the IGT G22 Multi-Game Slant Top Slot Machine having an LCD screen.  I found that information on the barcode inside of the machine.  I still have not found the  date it was made but it may be in the barcode number
This slot machine has its own stand and has a panel at the bottom of the machine, and a panel at the top of the machine which opens from the bottom panel and lifts upwards, and it has the printer, and cashbox in the upper area.  The printer is not installed as of yet.

The fans located in the bottom panel are 4" fans. One cools the bottom area, and the other is vented to blow air through a plastic duct to cool off the upper area of the video slot machine.  The fans are very loud. I want to purchase new Pancake fans that are quieter so it does not make so much noise.  Wondering if anyone would know of any quiet pancake fans that I should purchase.

Still want to find an owner's manual, repair manual, and parts list for the IGP G22 Multi-Game Slant Top Slot Machine just in case I need to make other changes, but I have not been able to find any as of yet.   Not sure if that information is on the QR Code?

Thank you for all of the assistance!

Well, considering I too am a newbie, I've found that people on this board are very helpful but you're going to have to be more specific in what you want.

1. If you want to alter ANYTHING on your machine, you're going to need to buy an EKEY and diagnostic key. That means if you want to add games, change odds, change the look and feel of your machine. Be prepared to spend $400+ for those keys. RB, sccarlso, rickhunter, Yoeddy1 are great resources.

2. But do your homework and read the board as much as you can and many of your questions will be answered.

3. I don't know of any owner's manual, they were made for commercial use. There are service manuals out there but if you're a novice, I don't think it's going to help you much, it will just complicate things.

4. Sounds like you have a functioning machine and there are a few modifications you want?

Good luck.

Hey  sftechgeek,

Thank you for your input!  Yes, the E-Key 7 and diagnostic USB keys are expensive!!!
I was lucky, the company that sold me my machine, For Your Game Roon allowed for me to borrow the Keys for my machine, with a deposit.
They sent me a video on how to program the ticket printer which they sent to me afterwards to program it to work.

However, I followed all steps but the Slot machine acts like the E-Key 7 is not in the machine, although the white E-Key 7 does light up.

I have followed the steps to go to Setup - Communications - Protocol, and then the video received stated, to go to Comm 1, but only I have a Comm 2 showing with no Comm 1.  I have tried to change Comm 2 under the Address, but a RED Warning sign at the top states "Greater Security Clearance is required to make changes".

The video did not show this warning at the top of their machine.  I have no idea how to get Security Clearance?  I thought, and think that the E-Key 7 would be the Security Clearance that is needed, but at this point it does not appear to be.

I am currently stuck at this point.  No Comm 1 button, and no Security Clearance to set the printer up to work on my IGT G22 Game King machine.

I will call For Your Game Roon for more information on this issue.
If I receive an answer, I will post it to assist others

Thanks to all for your interest, and assistance!

Your pics are pretty blurry.   But I can at least see what's what.

Are you plugging your ekey into the "secure" USB ports?   They are behind the metal door with the red square around it...
If you don't plug your ekey in there, and remove the paper that's usually jammed  in the security switch inside that's closed by a handle but it's usually removed (the hole in the middle).

Then the machine won't accept the ekey authentication.   You can only use those two USB ports behind that door. and anything jammed in that switch has to be removed.   AND, when you're done and remove the ekey, you must jam a small folded post it note in the switch inside so it's detected as closed.

This is what it looks like behind that metal door.  As you can see the paper is wedged in the switch.
That must be removed when you plug the ekey into a USB port below it.  And when you are done and remove the ekey, you must put the wedge of paper back in that switch.

Thank you, sccarlso, but unfortunately that did not clear up the problem of needing Security Clearance.  The paper was removed, the E-Key 7 and diagnostic key placed into the slots, and the message of Security Clearance is required is still appearing, and not allowing for me to change the setting for the TITO printer to be set up.  Bummer!  But, good try, and much thanks.

It sounds like that your ekey isn't an ekey7 then.  There are different ekey numbers that have different security levels.  But few even use them as the ekey7 is the "master" key which does everything the other more limited keys do.

The diag key is not needed.  You would only use that to wipe the memory of the machine or the drive or "basic" diagnostics by booting with that diag key and the ekey inserted.

So if you are powering on with no USB anything connected and it powers up normally.  And there are ZERO CREDITS on the machine.  Then you're putting the ekey in one of the secure USB slots behind the metal door.
That's when the screen lights up and says "verifying ekey", and gives you the menu system.   If you cannot change the com settings at that point and get some kind of security clearance error, then I don't think that is an ekey7.

Thank you, Sccarlso for the update, I think that you are correct in your analysis of the situation, but I think that the E-Key 7 is defective.  The E-Key 7 is marked as a universal Master E-Key 7 with numbers.

When I place the E-Key 7 into the USB area, the machine changes the screen to black and white, stating: Out of service.  I have to turn the Service Key to the right and bring up the menu that way to go to Setup - Communication - Protocol - Protocol Setup, where the message: "Greater Security Clearance is required to make changes" is at the top of the screen.

Nothing comes up on the screen about verifying the E-Key 7, and no menu comes up automatically.  I have to use the Service Key, or the Attendant Key and turn it to the right once to load the menu. The E-Key 7 does light up, but it is not working.

I am working with the provider to get another E-Key 7 currently thanks to your information.
It is hard to know what is expected when I have not used an E-Key before, but your description of what to expect helped tremendously.

Thank you, and thanks to everyone on the board who gives a helping hand to others!   :applause:

That might change things!  Might help find the issue here.

Pretty sure you will get that message if the switch behind the metal door still has the piece of paper (or something jammed in it).  Or the switch has been messed with so it always shows closed.  If that is done, you can never use the ekey until that is corrected so it displays that the metal door (Cage switch) is open, indicating you unlocked that metal door...   As it usually has a lock where that blank hole is, so if the lock "was" there, it would open/close the Cage Switch when you open it.  But that's removed, so that's where putting that piece of paper in the slot, or removing it.  So the machine knows that secure USB door is open.

Because if that isn't lit, it thinks you somehow plugged in an ekey without the metal door actually being open...   And it will deny the ekey.

I installed a simple toggle switch to open and close that switch instead of putting paper in/out of that lock switch slot.   But if I forget to flip the switch I put in that tells the machine the metal door is open and put the ekey7 in, it will just say out of service : remove the ekey, and I can't access anything.

On the touchscreen of the machine, there are door and switch indicators in the upper right corner to indicate if it sees the main door is open, cage switch is open, belly door is open, etc.  For it to run normally all must be clear (none lit in white).  But if certain ones aren't lit in white when using an ekey, the ekey will be rejected too!

There are a row of letters to indicate what doors/switches are open.  You should have the letter F (front door) indicator lit in white (which indicates it is open).  And the letter C (Cage switch) indicator, which is the switch behind the metal door, should be lit up white as well so you know the machine sees that the secure USB door (Cage switch) is open.

If the C icon isn't lit in white before you plug in the ekey, it won't accept the ekey.

Have a look at the row of letters in the upper right of the screen before you put in the ekey, and note which ones are lit in white.   :)

If you close a switch, the white background on that letter disappears, if you open a switch, it lights up in white.

Something else to check that could cause this behavior.

All great suggestions. I knew you were the man for the job. Yes, if the incorrect interlocks are not defeated, you won't be able to get in. Scott has great suggestions for troubleshooting your issue.

1. No credits on machine
2. Correct doors opened/closed (don't remember whether bottom door must be closed) front door with monitor open, paper in interlock on brain box removed,
3. Correct EKey 7 inserted in Brainbox USB slot
4. Restart and wait.

What if the Boot Chip is not loaded? We should still be able to get in with the EKey7, right? Or did we just assume the Boot Chip is loaded?

Machine boots normally.  Otherwise it wouldn't display that an ekey was inserted.  So it's getting that far.

I just remember when I forgot to flip my switch to the cage door one time, that the ekey is rejected as it thinks the secure door is still closed.   :)

Scott did it. The paper was removed, and then the E-Key 7 was placed into the machine.  The Main door showed open, and the Case was open due to the paper being removed.  It was getting everything in the correct order to get the E-Key 7 to be able to be read.  Ugh.

Still having problems though.  I was able to change comm 2 to comm 1,. The Address to 1, Under Advanced I have the Protocol Enabled Set to YES. Secure HandPay is now set to NO.  Saved.

When exiting the machine, on a black and white screen, the machine gives the message, "Validation Host Not Available. Protocol Error. ---Validation System Failure."

I removed the E-Key 7, placed the white paper back into its slot, and closed the Main Door.
All R, C, and M buttons in the upper right of the screen were not lit up. The white highlight was gone.

In the game screen, it refuses to give Free Play when the Service button is pressed Twice now.  I placed a dollar into the machine and played a few Poker hands, then pressed Cash OUt. I was hoping that a Voucher ticket would print, but nothing.  No attempt to print any ticket. And, the machine still is reading: "Handpay required, Please Call Attendant."

I went back into the Protocol Setup and everything I set is saved, and as it should be for the printer to print, as far as I was informed by For Your Game Room.  but, now, No Freeplay credits, No printed ticket, and it is still reading, "Handpay required, Please Call Attendant."

I have no idea what this message means, or how to fix it.
"Validation Host Not Available. Protocol Error. ---Validation System Failure."

One problem solved, but more to face.     :fryingpan:

I don’t think TITO is installed.  So a hand pay would just require a reset from the attendant key. Did it ever offer additional credits by pressing the attendant call button? Obviously tickets require a few more setup procedures.

By adding a printer you can set to print tickets. But don’t set to accept them.  Which isn’t the whole deal.  🙂

The Tito card acts as the validation host to accept tickets.  So you must have it set to print but not accept tickets unless you have a Tito card.

If you want the best.   Get a Tito card for AVP.  Easy to install but you have to make sure your machine has an RS232 port on board.  If not, you’ll just need an RS232 daughter card to connect the Tito card.

As long as you have RS232 on your machine direct or a daughter card plugged in.  They provide exact steps to print and accept tickets.  🙂

Tito card. >  http://www.titoathome.com

If you take a good pic of your backplane we can tell you if you have RS232 or not on the board.  A few good close ups of the boards inside will help greatly.

With that hooked up you’ll have it all. 👍

Hello Guys,

I have a TITO 4.1 card hooked up.  My machine was set to give $100.00 in credits before I changed the settings for the printer in Protocol Setup changing comm 2 to comm 1,. The Address to 1, Under Advanced I have the Protocol Enabled Set to YES. Secure HandPay is now set to NO.
I have these settings. This is where the video from For Your Game Room Stopped stating that was all I had to do to have the printer work.  No other instructions were given.

I think that something is missing.

Now, the Service button does not give any credits. I can press it endlessly, but no credits are now given.
After placing money into the TITO and playing a few games, then pressing the Cash OUt button, no printout comes out. Nothing happens.  It does not matter if I press the Cash Out button endlessly, it will not print.

So, now I only can play with cash, and no printouts, or credits are given.

Is there another protocol screen to enable printouts? Did I miss doing something?
The machine must give credits again, and the printer should print. I know that I  am missing something.    :Scratch-Head:

Thanks again!

There are three operations to TITO, pressing credit out gives a TITO ticket. The second is acceptance of the TITO ticket for credits into the bill validator and the third is a button push for attendant gives a default of 100 credits.

I use two different manufacturers the actual TITO device. I think a photo of the device would be helpful. All my instructions asked for Com 1. But instructions for both devices are available online for both. I have found that the printout of the ticket can be the more challenging aspect to get working.

I would tackle each one separately. Photos help.

These are my instructions for TITO at Home. Make sure your device, which is powered by usb is flashing red.

Hello  sftechgeek,

Thanks for the information.  I will keep it for a later date.
Scott C. was able to assist me in getting my TITO printer up and running.  The problem was that the information received originally informed me to go to COMM 1, when I should have been going to COMM 2.  And, yes, photos would have assisted I am sure, but Scott was able to set me up, and get the TITO printing and working without photos. OMG! :dancing_2:

All of the help from everyone is so valued and greatly appreciated.

Thank you all.  :hail:   I am becoming a member of NLGs due to all of the assistance I have received, and that I may need again, someday down the road.     :thank_you:
