Mk5 buttons not working

Hey everyone. I have an mk5 machine which I recently put in a new LCD screen and power supply. The unit operated perfectly for a few days but I made the error of not switching the system off when I was done playing. I had an error come up about meter disconnected or something so I turned the machine off. Now when I turn it on I have no power to any of the play buttons. Is there anybody here that might be able to help me out with what I should be testing for voltage wise or should I just try and replace the back PCB that controls those buttons? Note that board also controls those other parts of the machine and they seem to work perfectly

Hi,

Is the error with the meters being disconnected still active?
This will make the buttons inactive and requires resolution before the game can be played.
Enter the audit screen and look at "current lockups" to see if the meter issue is still there (Or any other lockups) before being concerned about the button voltages.

Hey thanks for the reply, I can't get into the lock up screen because the buttons arnt working, when I turn the system on it asks me to clear the static ram and I can't without any buttons lol

Hi,

I understand what you mean no buttons now, Some suggestions,
Is this a US or NSW machine? ie a large full size IO board the same as the main board or two smaller boards as well as the main board in the cage?
You changed the power supply and it failed after leaving it on and then turning it off?? Check to make sure you have:
+24v available on pins 10,11,12 and ground on pins 3,4,5 and 7 on P17 of a US backpane
+24v available on pins 4,5,6,7,8 and ground on pins 11,12,13,14and 16 on P29 of a NSW backpane

Did you remove the IO boards from the logic box at all? if so remove the logic board and inspect the pins on the IO connector, especially J1 on the US board.

Its interesting both the buttons and meters are not working. hence why I am thinking power supply 24v connection.

Hey sorry for the delay reply been busy with a new born.

It's a NSW machine

So I swapped power supply to a spare I had here and still same issue.

I did not remove the boards at all. I until after I tried to restart after the error happened to make sure that nothing moved randomly.

The machine is booting fine and everything it just looks like I dont have power from the back PCB as no coin reader, sound and or buttons

No probs with the delay....Dont panic
Now I am thinking there is 2 seperate issues, one being the meters....Fix that later,
I do recall that there has been issues with the main door wiring loom fraying under the protective covering at the hinge point. I suggest trying this:
If the game loads and you can enter the audit screen with the key, Unplug P10 from the backpane (Left hand bottom plug) and using a wire, jumper momentarily pins 13 and 21. This should move the highlighted menu item down. If it dosn't, then its not a wiring loom problem.
Also while the plug is unplugged from the backpane, check to make sure there is power at pin 1 and pin 13 on socket 10. Ie use the meter between the "Ground test" point at the center bottom of the board and pin 1 and 13 of socket 10.

Give this a try if you can and keep us updated.

Hey mate sorry for really late reply hahaha the young fella has been a hand full,

I can confirm that I have 22v on pins 13 and 1 I was doing a continuity test through the pins to ground and p10 and P11 do not have any pins running back to the ground
