BillVal Comm Error

BB2 running Zeus III, game loads but can't clear billval error.  Bill Validator set to MARS (Mas MEI)
the complete bill validator assy has been tested in another BB2 and works fine.
calif jur 27-101
bios 00002-3000v0.02.01

could it be a bad cpu or motherbopard?

I’m shopping out for the first time.  The BV is good, tried it in another bb2.  I know it’s not software related because I put software in another bb2 and it worked perfectly.  I’ll probably try a different cpu next.

1-Check the 3 jumpers on the backplane they must be on RS232,
2-check the wiring,
3-change the backplane
