IGT Reel Touch RFA is Corrupt

Hi, I’m looking for some help working through RFA corrupt issue with my IGT Reel Touch Flip Flop Deluxe. From reading some threads, this sounds like the hard drive may have failed. I’ve tried gently tapping the HD to see if it will run with no luck.

Unfortunately I do not have RFA, ATA or BGM info written down. I should have read that when I first got my machine but that’s water under the bridge now.

I do have a complete spare top box computer and monitor for a Flip Flop Deluxe that was parted out. Am I better off trying to swap out the box completely or work through getting existing back up?

You are probably correct the HD has failed.
That is a bios 1 top box so you can NOT try and review the files with a USB connection on a laptop.
This will corrupt the HD (like yours is now)
Drives also fail due to their age or spikes from the wall outlet.
A few questions:
Is your spare top box also a bios 1? If not even if it's a flip flop HD it will not work.
I can probably help you with a harddrive but I  will need more information.
What are the SB, SG, and VS chip numbers from the lower mpu?
Is it  500 series or enhanced lower mpu?

Thanks qbert, the spare box looks identical in every way. Same part number, model number, same manufacture date etc. I think these games came off the line the same time.

Your call you can try changing the top box.
It won't hurt anything if it is different you'll just get a red screen if it's not compatible.
Or I can make you a replacement drive.

Changed the top box but screen looks dead.  The game boots however so the computer and HD are ok. I suspect the lcd is bad? I may need to switch lcds next.

 :mail_2:Does the game play without the top box showing anything?
If it does, listen to the top box when it boots.
Your old one would beep or click 4 times before you got the red white and blue finger splash screen.
If the replacement top box beeps or clicks 4 times it is the same bios as your original.
If it only beeps one time it has a different bios and the harddrives are not interchangeable.
If they are determined to be the same then take the harddrive from the non working top box and put it in your original top box.
CAUTION: make sure you get the pin orientation on the harddrive correct. If you miss by just one pin really bad things happen to the harness. I plug my harddrives in before I mount them back in the top box so I can be sure the plug going into the harddrive is correct.

When the game is turned on, there are 4 beeps.Attached are pictures of the 2 motherboards, there does not appear to be any differences that I can see.

IMO the easiest option is to swap the harddrives and go back to the original top box.
Screens are the same (good thing)
