Did someone sell me a bad dongle??
« on: August 25, 2024, 02:53:49 pm »
Hello,

I was hoping someone more with more knowledge could answer a question for me. I purchased software with a dongle and software from a NLG member. When trying to install this new game after using a clear card, the installation is halted and I receive the following message (attached). I've tried using all the existing USB ports on my BB2 Box with the dongle, and even tried inserting the dongle adapter that was included in the J16 port on the board. Did I receive a bad Dongle with this somewhat expensive software? I've installed some other dongle games I own in the past, and have never had this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't say but I have it and it came with 13.37.  So you might want to try that?

key hardware check failed.  Either bad usb ports, or bad dongle. Dongles do go bad, rare, but they do.  I have a bad dongle that just went bad.

I tried a 13.37 OS that I already had, same error result. I did notice a red LED light lit on the blue WMS plastic dongle itself. I've never really noticed that before, but in all fairness, I've never really looked at any other dongle I have after plugging it into the USB port and loading a new game. I guess I'll chalk it up to a bad dongle. Unfortunately it was the Princess Bride game that I've been waiting to purchase for some years as it rarely comes around for sale. I was hoping to surprise my daughters and wife, but good thing I didn't tell them before I tried to load it. Thanks for the help and advice.

The red led has always been there. It is not an indicator of failure.
