Turning BB2 on and off frequently?

I've searched and searched....please move or point me to post if this has been covered before...

I have 2 BB2's (from Gamblers Oasis). They tell me "these machines don't like to be shut off. Leave them on all the time."

Is this only because the CR 2032 batteries will die eventually and you have to Clear and Re Setup a game or two?

My thing is they throw a lot of heat! And living in Florida, that adds to the AC bill.

Will it harm the machines in any way by turning them off when not in use?

I realize I may have to change batteries more often than a machine that is left on, and I am familiar with game setup.

Upsides? Downsides?

You really didn't say how often you turn the machine back on?
I have a couple that I turn on only once a month, and the batteries have never died on me.
If they happen to die, it's not hard to set back up.
There are numerous posts in the FAQ section on how to do set it back up.
Piece of cake once you've done it a couple of times.

No problem turning them off when not being used!  I think its better not to overwork/heat the electronics in the home environment.
Almost twenty years into this, I have never left them on even overnight if not being used.

Turn them off when not using. I never leave mine on all the time. Left on all the time things will wear out faster.

Thanks for all your input. Apparently, I received some mis-information. (Seems to be a lot of that going around these days, but I digress...)

I had been leaving them on most of the time, with short day or two breaks when no one was using them.

Now I'll only start them up when I know we're having company or when we feel the urge...

They want you to leave them on so that components will fail faster and they can sell you parts instead of batteries this is a known con in the slot industry that i myself am guilty of doing when i worked for a different slot shop.
