WMS BB2 - imgmgr: Recovery failure error

game was working and I removed the CPU and replaced with another, took software from working cpu and put in new cpu
Get following message right after performing ramclear and then loading of game is complete.

error: validation failed on file: "/initrd/hd/game.img"   this is in red
ImgMgr: : stop sys: ImgMgr: Recovery failure.
********SYSTEM HALTED*****

I have cleared it 3 times and tried a second SSD hard drive.

Did you try replacing the S-ATA cable?

Have tried a couple different hard drives and S-ATA cables.

I have an original set of zeus III (DE95-000-1000C2 WITH os H.13.31) This set loads perfectly and game sets up and play.
I also have a copied set that when loading always gets error (see pic).

after I load the original set and game is playing I can turn off and replace the original game cf with the copy and it will play fine.

I have made several copies on 3 or 4 different cf cards

I also backed up the copy and then compared it to the original with HxD Hex Editor and the 2 files match (are identical)

BB2’s can be very sensitive when using anything but original WMS CF cards.

Are you using WMS branded CF cards?

I'm not sure what 27-101 is without looking at the file.

If you have Mississippi (8-115) I would try that, SJUR's can cause interesting issues.

Don’t have the 8-115 but did have 8-113.  Changed it, then cleared but still get recovery failure.
When halts it says comp=H13.21  I actually have h13.31

Looking at your photo in Reply #2, tells me there's a problem with the Zeus III file image (DE95-000-1000C2).
That's why it displays "**INVALID**".

I too believe it is the zeus 3 file.  I think I'll start from scratch, delete the file I have and then backup the original cf card I have, then restore from a cf from the new backup.  I thought I was going to enjoy the bb2's but I'm not sure now (lol)

I'm not sure what you are using to make the back up image?  Either use Linux or nothing newer than Windows 7.

using windows 7 and recovery manager, I have made several other game cf cards with no issues.

Here's what I just did:
Made new backup of the original working game cf
Restored the backup to a wms cf card
ramclear and loaded restored cf - recovery failure
ramclear and loaded original game cf - game loaded with not errors
removed original game cf and replaced with restored game cf - game works perfectly

so the restored cf will not load but once game is loaded (with the original cf) then the restored cf will work

when i use hex editior to compare the original and restored cf's it says they are identical.

Try something other than recovery manager.

I believe HDD Raw Copy is included as part of Windows 7, this is a good option.

When you get to the save screen, just below the file name on the bottom, choose "Raw image" as the save as type.

Zeus 3 is a 1GB game... If you are using a BALLY 1GB card the actual size in Kb is DIFFERENT and the machine will not validate a Bally 1GB card.

When you load a WMS card (or a REAL san disk card) 1gb file in win image, when you select the drive to flash, it will show the file size in kb. When you do the same with a Bally 1GB card, you will notice the Kb are different.

You can use Bally cards for 512 and lower as they are exactly the same cards.

found a wms original 1gb cf and programmed it, everything working now.

I have never seen game.img used in single game cards before.
