G23 ekey

Trying to validate my universal 7 IGT ekey works on my g23.  Validated it’s working on my s3000.  When inserted in my g23 I get “verifying ekey” and then it goes to a screen that says “out of service” with a cash and paid $$ amount below that.

Is my ekey not valid for the g23 or is there something else I need to get into the menu?  And where can I get a diagnostic key from?  The diag key I have that works with my s3000 boots to the AVP splash screen and then goes dark with a “no sync” message, a beep, and a reboot.  Never goes to the diagnostic menu.

The G23 uses a different diag than the S3000. I have them available. Sounds like your ekey 7 is good. When inserting it into the G23, are you using the secure USB port? Is the toggle switch flipped up?

There is a piece of paper inserted into the clip behind the door.  And I’m using the usb ports behind the door.

Remove the paper. It thinks the door is closed.

You didn't specify if you have a Fam14 or Fam20 system running on your G23.

If you have a Fam20 system in your G23, you're good.  But if you have a Fam14 system, the diag key DIAGUNV00122 won't boot in it, as it's only for a Fam20 system.

For a Fam14 system, you need a Fam14 diag key for the machine to boot with it.

How can I tell?  I purchased it from slots machines unlimited.  When I insert the ekey without the paper in the clip I get “out of service remove the ekey” and with the paper inserted in the clip it just removed the “remove the ekey” but still says “out of service”.

It's highly unlikely you got a G23 from SMU with Family 20 games on it. Family 14 is the norm. Some people do run Fam 20 on a 3.0 CPU with marginal success. If the splash screen has a blue background, it is Family 14. Family 20 splash screen will be white.
