It comes on white at boot with all the rest but when booted does not light with the lower led's
Any Suggestions??

New Topper Fixed it! Heavy damn thing!

Thought I'd bump this to rvive.

Its just the led surround. Switched the usb port and cable.... No Love.

Could be the topper I guess....

Any insites?

You should not switch LCU connections to ports on the LCU board. Each one is assigned to specific ports.

You LCU board may be defective.

@idesign the labels on the harness' are different than your schematic. but all correspond to the correct led set. Going to inspect the topper for loose connects but you may be right about a bad lcu.

It's not a schematic. That's just a listing of what goes where. That includes dual screen connections. Obviously if you have a single screen J43 then a cable will not be connected to the second screen. Port 1 is the topper, no matter what machine you have.

The point here is to trace the cable plugged into port 1 to make sure it's from the topper

So in this adventure I have changed out the LCU which was not the problem I guess.... I opened and reseated all boards and led panels in the topper and cleaned the disgusting thing out. Before I spen more to buy a new topper i figured I'd ask the community.... would the newer games have different settings for the led lighting or would the LCU need updating to work with newer games>? or could the topper just be broke??

What version firmware is in the LCUs? Usually the older firmware does not support the Halo button in the bet deck. If your Halo button plays different colors depending on the game you should be up to date.

But no, if the a replacement LCU did not help then it must be the controller in the topper that is defective.

Ahhh, the halo button is always white any game.

So both the LCU boards you have just stay white on the Halo button and the Topper? No color?

Go into diagnostics menu and see what the firmware version is on the LCU. The older LCU boards did not support them, only the cabinet lights were supported. There may be a label too on the boards with firmware version.

The play button is always white. The topper is all white on boot but when any game loads it goes dark or has one small strip of red in the lower right corner. No other colors. Is there a way to update the lcu?

That depends on what version is on it now. Post pics of what the play button looks like and the topper with the red in it along with the version of the firmware.

The topper led controller does sound like it is bad though

In the diagnostics menu you will find the version number. 00.22 is what you should have

Yes, but you said the Halo around the spin button is always white. Should be a color once the game comes up. 00.22 should make it display color unless the Halo ring in the button is defective too

OMG! Interesting.... I can live with the white button tho. My OCD kicks in with this topper!! The lighting on the cabinet seems more "stable" with the new LCU in.... I bought a new topper on eBay from someone and naturally as my luck runs no response or shipping from the buyer.....

All the connections are correct, the cables are good so well see how this develops.

The Candle also seems fine, it changes its LED behavior per game installed and works with the service button and doors open etc. I know some aftermarket sellers of these complex computers are better than others as seen when you PM and clean out machines etc. I guess it is what it is for now.

Cause I know youre dying to know!! LOL!

The Halo button didnt have a LED cable installed to the LCU Therefore WHITE. Looking for 2 such cables now!

TOPPER: I removed the topper, cleaned the monitor out of all the casino sludge. Reseated all the cables connecting the LED boards together, swapper the small controller board out to test on another machine and the boards fine.

Plugged all the cables in while the topper was on the bench and bang it all worked fine. replaced about 10 missing screws etc. Tested again Worked fine! YAY!! fixed.

Mounted topper on machine (Heavy!) routed cables down to video and LCU. started machine all LED's white, Game starts and all colors work!!!!!!!

EXCEPT THE TOPPER, same result no colored LEDs.

Ordered new topper!

Update...

The cable on this machine was altered! Either by the casino it was in or by the re seller!. I tracked down every last wire, re routed to their correct place and BAM! All the lighting effects are working just fine!! A daunting task but let me say the inside of this machine has never looked so good!!! All harness plastic mounts replaced and cabling looks great!! Clean as new inside and out!

Now if I can find the light boards to replace in the Twinstar slant iDeck edge lighting Ill be a happy camper!! So many screws !!
