Maxim max7219cng ic chip

Ok here is one for the techs, i did testing on my driver board for my led display meter and the 7219 chips tested bad so I take them out and put the new ones I ordered in and my LEDs are working but the chips get real warm I mean warmer then they should , so further inspection I look at the chips and they are not the 7219 CNG ones , it says they are and well I looked them up and I got fake ones , i understand from what I searched there is a replacement 7221 ic chip that is identical should I go with that one instead since there's alot of fakes on the original because my meter aren't working right and getting hot

Well these ic chips are definanly fakes  , for some reason they just made my machine go hay wire ,I mean it became possessed then it stopped when I unplugged the led meters ,crazy *!?  $@/?

Stuff like that you need to be really careful. Order from Digikey or Mouser.

Im not sure how they would make the whole machine go haywire but I suppose they might be pulling down or polluting the 5v rail.

Or….there is another problem in the LED system that is over drawing and that is why they went out in the first place.

They were out when I got the machine and I'm using a different CPU board . But now the machine is acting funny again it starts lighting up reals moving all different directions hopper coming on and off the hard meters clicking and the vfd screen all these symbols and letters are going accrossed the screen and I can't reset it it no matter what I did . I'm trying to figure out if one of my chips went bad  . I messaged Allen  at k lar to see if he has these led meters I need and I'm hoping he does . I would by them even if they were untested . I just won't order the parts off eBay ever again .

Well I figured out what was going on with my machine , my reset switch wire was not making a good enough contact on the switch so what I had done was reconnected the wire then i was able to reset it
and he  problems went away . Isn't that weird
